Well, my only issue with Thinis' actual build, is the lag. When I and one other person had checked it out, we were lagging out. That was two people. I can only imagine how the whole sim is when full. The other thing, while it looks pretty much like I'd picture the apocalypse in the real world, the builder didn't really leave much room to actually play in, either. I was rather shocked by the contrast to SRS (Since I heard both sims had the same builder). To me, a build is more than just pretty textures and painstakingly-sculpted prims. You have to have room for people to play there. In SRS, I lagged less in a full sim than I did in Midian, which had a woefully outdated build, great by the standards of the time, sure, but Nomos would definitely show how far Baal Zobel had come along.

As for the RP, can't say much about it, just looked boring to me. If I wanted to play a caveman who can't have access to firearms, I'd stick with fantasy RP, where I can have more choices of clothing than some crappy sandels and shredded bear ass to cover my bare ass. If I wanted Post-Apoc, I'd go to someone who watched Mad Max and played Fallout. Though, that's just me. Dunno where Gor came from. I always thought Gor was just some clusterfu*k Bronze Age RP where small men played at being doms and gay men who played women submitted to them, surrounded by the rank, acrid stench of piss play and fail.

The builder originally put out a ton of barrels with fires in them that were all giving out particle smoke.    The result was that at any given time, Thinis was literally full of particles.

Anyone who didn't lag in Shadowrun shouldn't lag in Thinis now.  Those barrels have all had the smoke prim removed.  I think you'll find that there's actually a ton of playable space if you come and look again though, Damienn.  There are buildings behind buildings with floor after floor of usable space.

The other task I've taken on myself since having the build turned over by Djehan has been to add a lot more light sources and more bits of color throughout the sims.  Its supposed to be dark and dystopian, but that doesn't mean there can't be some contrast and lighter portions.  The changes and additions will be continuing throughout the rest of the week.

I do apologize if I came into this thread and spoke only about my own sim - but since my sim was I believe wrongfully categorized, I think it was the right thing to do.  We've been in soft open for a month now and are going to have our grand opening with a huge sim-wide roleplay plot involving travelers and survivors from the wastes coming in and forcing their way into opening businesses (barter system) and perhaps opening more gangs and factions.

Agreed, or a sim not based off any game at all. Thinis seems like a direct rip off of Fallout New Vegas without the fun stuff. What I'd like to see is something really original. Maybe that is part of why we are losing so many, people are bored of seeing rehashed games fitted to SL.

Whoa! Connected? How so? By the hip? head? Spirit? Siamese twins perhaps?

I'm just merely stating the fact that you created this account for the sole purpose of making a comment to this thread. I wonder why?

I don't RP... much... so I don't hang around Thinis but I have been to Thinis and I liked what I saw. Piles of megaprims? I beg to differ.... You see trash, I see art. Obviously you are so attached to 'what it was and what is supposed to be' that you failed to see that perhaps not everyone has the same imagination like you. When I was there I did not experienced lag.

Maybe... Just maybe.. your computer sucks!?

Actually I created this account because I wanted to start a new character for some cyberpunk/post apoc roleplay, went looking for some and found this thread. So much for what you think you know. Far as my computer goes, it doesn't lag in other places I go in SL, so there goes your theory on that one too. As far as your opinion on Thinis' build I'll just refer to your track record so far on that one. It doesn't take much imagination to copy some video game's theme or to turn and stack copies of the same black prim over a sim and I'm far from alone in stating the fact that it's laggy. If you were not attached to it somehow, I seriously doubt you would keep rushing to defend it from someone's simple opinion unless you have some mental issues when you aren't happy until everyone agrees with you. I don't.

Nope, no mental issue whatsoever and neither am I connected to Thinis. If I hadn't been to Thinis when it was first opened I wouldn't even bothered to post in this thread defending it. Since you are an alt, I assumed (as you did mine) that your other account is in Thinis group. You can see my name is not even there. Your assumption of my connection to Thinis is just a little bit ... not much, just a bit, but still is... a paranoia from the get go. As far as I can see, all of you have been attacking one particular sim and when someone dared to stand up against you, you assumed that person is 'connected'.

That sounds a lot like 1920's Mafia RP don't you think so? " It's not who you are but who you know... "

As for "You said, I said" argument of our apparent lack of imagination... meh... Look at the little children, give them a piece of white towel each and a corner room, and you'll see them playing doctor and patient. You should be lucky someone gave you a themed park to play around with .. for free... and yet you still complained, like a spoilt brat.

* Willow Danube laughs and looks at that man in front of her and spits to the ground... she walks away leaving the man scratching his butt confused... wondering if he had just been godmodded*

Your post proves my point far better than I ever could. So well I am simply left to golf clap, well done. Now can we talk about sims other than Thinis? It isn't even what we are looking for. Post apoc caveman does not = cyberpunk, they should do their advertising in a separate thread.

Yep, I concur!

Let's talk about people's apparent lack of imagination and creativity.  Oh, no... it has to be certain built, certain colour, certain dress code...

- Please don't make me wear torn clothes because that will ruin my imagination and it gives me episodes of brain farts... I mean call me Diva or Divo.. I can't act or pretend if I have no glowing stuff from my helmet's antenna.

- Please don't build big piles of ruined buildings because according to Hollywood and Marvel comics, there should be some nice pretty houses with white fences left... and someone will leave some pies on the windows for me to eat.. not picking up dead carcassas on the street for survival.

- Please wear spandex and glowing chakras at your back because... ooohhh, that's so hot! I mean bare your ass cheeks too and plenty of boobies because well.. that's what the Manga books says. Nevermind the radiation, there is no radiation in a heavenly cyberpunk realms.

- Oh and your weapons.. well you weapons must have at least 2 types of bullets that glows (preferably set at max - 10.0) in two colours. I don't kill people if my gun doesn't talk computer to me.

- And your vehicle.. well if it doesn't fly, swim, walk, run and dive.. it ain't vehicle. It should run forever, you don't need gas, solar power.. no, you just use a little kinetic energy using your index fingers or something. As far as people going back to Cave man living after ALL energy resources are depleted,, nah, that won't happen. Not in my imagination anyway...I don't use logics, never did.

- And you must provide me with a combat ground, huge combat ground.. yes, Glowing combat ground... because I can't imagine myself running in a pile of dirt and use my surrounding as my resource to fight my combat. I mean who would use rustic metals to fight in year  2020? Have you seen those boxers fight anywhere other than in the ring? I want it exactly like that.

- Oh and please, please, please do not use megaprims on your sculpties because it is laaaagggyyyy... No, please use normal prims, Someone told me the LOD factor is better for sculpties when used in megaprims.. but hey I don't believe it. I mean I rather be ignorant than be told the truth.

Thank You for making my experience in your sim worth your effort. Please remember, you don't deserved me to be in your sim if you don't bow to my limited imagination. It's just not worth my 20L I donated to you.

Wow, I am agreeing with everyone else. You sure are taking people's opinions personally. You can call an apple a banana all you want, it's still an apple. I don't think anyone needs to be thankful for a place they never wanted and just because we don't agree with you does not make us void of imagination. I don't like Gor or rape play so should I go and thank all the Gor and rape sim owners for making a cyberpunk sim? That's insane. Get over it, we don't like Thinis. It does not qualify as cyberpunk just because you want it to. Without the high tech, the low life is just hunter gatherer Neanderthal.

We can comprehend fine, the topic is:

*Knock knock* Hey cyberpunk / post apoc, you there man? WAKE UP!
NOT
*Knock knock* Hey dystopian / post apoc come advertise here man! WAKE UP!

You see... that's you problem. Hence your lack of imagination.

BTW, I've never told you or anyone to LIKE Thinis... I am merely jumping in and told everyone that I, for one, DO Not think Thinis was ugly. That's my opinion as a grid traveller... but hey, someone has to be a consipracy theorist and assumed I was somehow Thinis's meat-puppet. La..Di..Da!.. (Please accept my humble gift of a roll of tin foil.... let me know when it is not enough to go around with.. I still have sum)

Oh, didn't someone here mentioned that Thinis was a dystopian post apocalyptic sim? That sounded exactly like Thinis, IMO. What part of it you refused to understand?

I mean, please don't get me wrong.. I don't like Gor either... Soooo, Why not you go build a church going Cyberpunk community instead? I'd like to join one of your cyberpunk choir groups. It would be really awesome singing Hallelujah in my glowing spandex suit and ultra-modern goggles whilst we all hold hands together as we walk towards the pearly gate.

My goodness, so much saying and stuff about 4 specified sims and not about any others that may exist.

Midian and Shadowrun turned into porn sims, shut down and inactive, OK...done deal.

Insilico is not a porn sim but it has too many bots, OK...not a sim for everyone, TP out and find another.

Thinis too laggy for some, others say not, too big in scale and so on, OK...move on if it is not your sim to be in, talk about something else. Maybe something constructive like what would be a sim you like to be in or create instead of criticizing a sim. Easy to criticize as a bystander, can not please everyone, even God gets criticized.

Every sim, unless it actually has copyrighted names and places, is unique. However there will always be something in it to remind a person of a game, a movie, or a tv show, to validate in their own mind that it is not original and is a copy of someone else's idea. OK...fine.

Now, opinions being taken too personal among the posters. Can we not just get along?

If you find a sim you don't like, TP out and go the next one.

Want to make suggestion to a sim owner on your opinion of his/her sim, send a notecard or IM.

Then please contribute by suggesting some. That was kinda the point of the OP, that there aren't any good places, currently. And if a sim is open to the public, and the owner even comes in to promote it here, they should probably be prepared for some criticism.

Ah, the beauty of OOC forums. I once said that any respectable RP sim should never have them. I love it, though. This topic went from about where one can find some good sims (Which, technically, Sil wasn't in the wrong advertising Thinis, after all, the topic was basically "Hey, where can I find cyberpunk or Post-Apoc sims?"), then immediately went to the whiners and fools, looking for an excuse to get offended and have a sparing match over who has the bigger e-peen.

I thank you, for providing lulz for all.

Anyways, back to the adults talking (and slandering one another). Seen another sim with a nice build, District X. Sadly, it uses a meter, but it certainly has a pretty build one can admire.

I also hear that Midian is making a comeback since it has new leadership. Yeah, that's right, children. Meet the new boss, slightly different from the old boss, or as I like to say, "Same song, different verse, a little louder, a little worse." This one might actually not have her head firmly lodged in her rectum, however. Of course, notice how I indicated that the boss is another woman. Yeah, that's right, another drama-prone, histrionic, Desperate Housewife of SL. Women running things... Jesus, no wonder so many sims crash in a wave of butthurt and drama.

Valid point, Nyx.

I like Insilico, been playing it for a few months, maybe a bit laggy at times but so are many high-gloss and/or high population areas on SL. Would recommend it as a good sim but there is enough criticism on in this thread already to not say anything of it.

The lack of "good" sims in this genre is due to existing sims needs to be altered to fit the needs, or new sims are needed to be created per the opinions and ideas of players.

On the subject to alter existing sims to fit needs: Criticism is not always a constructive tool versus recieving suggestions. Not everyone takes criticism constructively.

On subject to create new sims versus dealing with existing ones: cost money to make and upkeep one, critics have not offered to do it yet.

Thanks again for the reply, Nyx, needed to explain myself a bit more.

Weren't DK and Baal once banned from Midian? That doesn't usually happen without drama from both ends so save us your hypocrisy. Roleplay sims die because they should. If there is not enough interest to support them and overcome the usual trappings that come with SL, including the drama, they belong in the past tense. Sim owners reap what they sow sometimes and sometimes ideas will never fly no matter how much work anyone puts into them due to lack of interest.
