Your best bet may be to file a ticket or talk to support if you can(from manually going to SL's website of course). The owner made me a manager so I could ban intruders. I was offered the land to buy but declined. Group-owned land which your friend has stopped contributing tier to pay for is good tho that you did get approached by Linden asking if you wanted to take the land into your ownership. Many years ago, when parcels in the sim I was in were abandoned, Guy Linden used to simply set them for sale to me personally, without even telling me, because he knew I would buy any that came up. It's different to the subject of this thread, but it's the same inasmuch as, for a very long time, Lindens have been looking to place parcels with people who look as if they might be interested.
