Since the inventory maintenance 0f 06/09-10/11 my inventory is gone and my avatar is just a cloud.

Open Preferences (CTRL + P) and click on Clear Cache in the Internet tab.  Then log out.  When you log back in, specify a vacant sim like Pooley, Smith, or Aqua.  You will arrive underwater and there will be no distractions.  Open your inventory and type any letter in the search field to start a forced rebuild of your inventory.  Don't do anything else until it's finished.  No changing appearance and no sending IMs or group messages.  Just go out for coffee and relax.  When it's finished, there's a good chance that your inventory will be intact again.

Why does it work?  Because your client saves time by making a copy of your inventory in cache and using it instead of the true copy on LL's servers.  Over time, that cached copy can become corrupted or simply out of sync with the copy on the servers, so it can have gaps or duplications.  Clearing cache removes the copy and forces your client to build a new one from the servers' original. 

What if it doesn't work? Then there's a chance that the copy on the servers has been corrupted.  THEN you file a ticket and ask LL to take a good look at the servers for you.

Oh, and this just might clear up your cloud issue too. Why? Because your avatar's appearance files are also cached on your computer, and the servers need to upload them to make you visible in world.  If clearing cache doesn't help the loud issue, there are other tricks we can suggest.  Come back and let us know what happens by editing your original message.  Meanwhile, good luck.
