There should have been instructions in a notecard that came with your AO.   It's very easy, though.  Basically, you need to rez the AO on a nice plain surface (NOT your carpet or the ground, where it will get lost.  AO's are tiny and are very easy to lose.)  Then, use your Edit tool to open the AO and look at its Contents.

You'll need to drag your new animation from your inventory and drop it in the AO's Contents.  Next, you need to modify the AO's configuration notecard to tell it what to do with the animation.  Find that notecard (again, in the AO's contents), open it, and take a look. It's organized in a pretty obvious, logical way. You'll need to type the exact name of your animation into one of the lines on the card, following the pattern that you see there. Spelling, capitalization, and punctuation all count.

Example:   [stand] standing_one|My_New_Standing_Anim

Save the modified notecard, close your editor, and take the AO back to your inventory.  Then wear it as you normally would. Finally, click on your AO to open its control menu.  (Your AO may expect you to right click to do this, or you may need to click a special button.) From the configuration menu, select LOAD, and then load your modified notecard.  The AO will then have everything it needs, and your animation should work perfectly.
