I don't mean to offend anyone and would like to state, if you are in the land business, I know how hard it is and admire your efforts.

However, if I might as so bold as to make a suggestion to those running this forum [Linden Labs].  I am seeing more and more real estate offers taking over the "recently created" section of the forums and moreover, real estate sales are rarely "Threads" per say, just postings.

I agree that they too need a forum however, for land sales and rental offers, they really are not threads and should not appear under the "Recently Created Threads" section.

I see a path to abuse already starting with multiple listing for the same offer showing up over and over in the Recently Created Threads area.

Just my two cents worth and though I feel your pain to find free marketing vehicles, I think it's time to make some changes that limit your access to unsolicited marketing.

I agree that these posts are annoying, but where else can people selling or renting land market their SL property?

Merchants have SL Marketplace, which works pretty well even with it's weird problems.  The classifieds & Search function work pretty well, though I think the classifieds are probably not cost-effective.  Is there a section of SL Marketplace for land sales & rentals?  If so, then perhaps this where these ads actually belong.  As much as I feel for folks trying to make a virtual living on buying, selling & renting property. I don't think it's fair that they can plaster the forums with their ads while other merchants can't do the same.

The marketplace does take land sales and rental listings, for both the mainland and estates, and they are free. It is amazing how few people take advantage of that service! Land has an exception to the normal rule, it is ok to "sell" a free landmark in those categories.

Why the special rules for land?

We were told at the meeting that we couldn`t have the New Products forum back because they want to reduce the amount of advertising on the forums.....So we can`t have a forum that is actually interesting and shows the new and cool stuff being created in SL but we can be spammed with ads for land rentals?

I agree as well. But think about what happens when a resident sells their land to another resident... LL gets tier from both residents for that month (well, not always... depends on the individual residents' tier levels). The same can't be said for other products. This leads me to believe LL has a much greater incentive to promote land sales in any way they can, hence the "special rules". Just a thought.

Maybe I am cynical but seems to me its because LL doesn`t want creators to have any means of communicating with residents without paying for it. We had a great community going on the old Xstreet forums where we freely discussed products and marketing, so they put a stop to that and its clear we are not very valued members of this new "community".

Considering most merchants are premium or consierge members, paying  ridiculously high tier fees to LL, you would think they would cut us a break just once in a while, afterall how long do they think the rest of residents would stay in SL if the creators weren`t supplying them with cool stuff to buy?
