What's a good 'starter' PC to run SL out of the box?

Most any desktop computer manufactured within the past couple years will run SL.  The better the hardware (CPU, GPU) and the more system memory (RAM), the better SL will run.  A $500 USD HP computer will work.......not exceptionally well but it will work.  Laptops are a different story........you're going to have to go beyond an "off to school special" (Netbooks won't cut it).  As a minimum I would look for a dual core CPU with a speed of, at least, 1.7 mhrz clock speed.  3 gigs of DDR2 RAM, a dedicated (discrete) video card (either ATI/AMD or nVidia) that is no more than 3 series old from the current series and mid-range within that series for performance.  I would also want at least 5 mega bits per second downloand speed from my ISP.
