My friend recently bought a Sound HUD, but unlike my Sound HUD (which is identical) is not able to play the sounds.   Do I have to alter a setting on my land property?  We were able to use the HUDs on a neutral property

Maybe. Depending on how the HUD script is written and when the HUD was attached, it may not work on land where scripts aren't enabled. Here's how to check on your parcel:

If scripts are already enabled, also check the "SOUND" tab on that ABOUT LAND window and see if "Avatar Sounds" are enabled.

It's kind of unusual for either of these to be a problem, though, because it's rare for Avatar Sounds to be disabled, and most scripts attached on script-enabled land will continue running on script-disabled land.
