Prokofy Neva
There was an interesting thread on this subject over a year ago, and now I can't find it. I have tried search with all kinds of terms, and even paging back through "General Discussion" which is wearisome work. If anyone has the link, please provide it. Meanwhile, it's a new year, a lot has happened in the last year (or two) due to COVID-19, and maybe people's answers are different now. So I'll start the ball rolling. I'm a Russian translator and news writer. I have translated over 50 books, many of which you can find on Amazon.com. I have worked for more than 40 years in non-profit and media organizations as a program manager, news writer, editor, and translator. Currently, I work part-time for several news sites and research groups. I should mention that I lost one job due to COVID where the company could no longer pay us; I took on other jobs to compensate; but I can't go outside the home as I once could to work a job due to my rare immune disease. LittleMe Jewell
I'm a Database Engineer/Administrator, working with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Vertica, Informix, MySQL, MongoDB. The work is very suitable to working from home, so other than pretty much becoming a recluse, Covid hasn't impacted my work.

Krystina Ferraris
I'm in Ireland and a large animal veterinarian, I specialise in equines and specifically equine internal medicine and physiology. I work outdoors, in fields most of the time or in yards, even for small surgical procedures that can be done with the horse standing. Bigger procedures or those requiring a hoist/horse laying need to be performed at the horse hospital so when that's required that's where I am. I run my own equine rehabilitation and training yard as well, and this yard I hope to increase capacity and improve it to accommodate equines recovering from complicated issues. I get to work on interesting species sometimes, especially in emergencies that happen a lot in the countryside. So beside cattle, I get to treat deer, foxes, badgers and the occasional owl! 🦉

Ohhhh thank you so much! Didn't think to search on "IRL". I was trying "RL" and "job" and "occupation" and just getting a lot of ads.
Maitimo
Apparently I didn't post in the other thread. Probably because my job is so dull. I do customer support and complaints-handling for an insurance company. It used to be on the phones but since covid and working from home I'm doing it exclusively by email. Which is much nicer than on the phone because I don't get irate customers yelling in my ear and demanding to speak to a manager (who would inevitably tell them the same thing I told them).

I'm a qualified Clinical Psychologist, but I inherited quite a lot, and decided to move into unpaid voluntary work. I am chairperson of a couple of charities too, which I enjoy tremendously. 7
Profaitchikenz Haiku
I'm retired now, which in itself is a full-time job without also having a high-maintenance semi-decrepit vVictorian building to take care of (as part of keeping warm I smash and saw up half my own body-weight in wood each day, luckily I'm not particularly overweight, but for those of you who question my frequently appalling typing, think wrist-aches) . I used to be a software engineer, a sort of catch-all term for somebody who can write programs, oversee other people writing programs, do black-box testing to work out problems, and monkey around with the hardware. If I had discovered SecondLife earlier, (or if my final contract hadn't been so absorbing), I would probably have initiated a career-swerve and dove fully into the Virtiual Worlds. I sometimes wish that I had become a historian instead, I've developed a growing fascination with the past, anything from the Sumerians and their technology up to the stories slowly emerging about the last war. Maryanne Solo
Same as the last thread with a little less college work and more of my own business. For example now I have to write & implement C++, (entirely unexpected but enjoyable), for mini Arduino controlled machines we, (family/brother), have to make to aid business production. (Precious metals object shaping, materials handling, final finishing). I am also now my elderly mothers designated official carer.

Teagan Tobias
In my 1st Life part of my profile in world I had for a while: I am a brain surgeon and have completed 7 successful brain transplants, ops make that six. I got an IM one day asking, then your a Doctor? Not a doctor but at one time I worked as a Histology Technician at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. Left that job in D.C. and moved to Florida to work at Kennedy Space Center, sounded a lot more exciting, had a number of different jobs there. I like the way Sid put it, and I am a full time coffee drinker now.
