Oh for goodness sakes -- for real?

Yes it is.

By the way,  this forum is called General Discussion --- i.e. Maybe you'd like to DISCUSS the topic.

(added screenshot to capture the fact that there really was nothing other than the title and the ?)

I've searched the https://www.lindenlab.com/legal/second-life-terms-and-conditions for prostitution or similar not seeing any wording regarding virtual sex for currency policy?

If so how is Linden Lab verifying age?

Homie, I'm pretty sure escorts / sex workers have openly been a thing since SL began. Why are you suddenly concerned with the legalities of it?

The same as most web sites -- they ask you how old you are and assume you are telling the truth.

Besides, it isn't considered prostitution because it is an avatar -- a cartoon picture.  Virtual sex with a cartoon character is not the same as RL sex.

Is that a serious question?

Open the search facility on your viewer and type in "Escort". You will find hundreds of place where you can buy sex and openly advertise it.
If it wasn't allowed those places would not exist.

I have been tempted several times to call it "prostitution" but I never did because I think in the literal sense this term is offensive and it really has nothing to do with what people do here.
If, on the other hand, you wanted to understand it as "Sexual performance for profit, with a habitual and professional character" you could write "escort" instead of "prostitution".
However, occasionally observing a hole in the water can be fun.

And this is why SL also has far more taboo stuff going on without shutting that off, then merely pixel hookers and such.

For most this is indeed the case, but when seeing the ammount of employment posts that ask for "cam" and "lovense" the difference gets discussable.
