animats
The "digital luxury" sector is now a thing, says McKinsey, the consulting firm. Somebody may be able to use this in Second Life. There are many people talking about "metaverse" and "branding", although few are doing much.

No change there, then. From my viewpoint, having been in SL as Prof since 2009, I think I've seen the rise of digital luxury here, mesh bodies, rigged clothing, well-crafted vehicles, animesh pets, pathfinding,, meeroos... - it's looksherry, lad, pewer lookesherry (think Monty Python "we 'ad t' l'ick road clean wi' tongue."..) To me, the only sad thing is, with all these new toys, the old-school RP that I knew and loved has died the death. Form has trumped content. I for one like having a nice looking mesh body ( do not miss RUTH)! I also like texturing mesh clothing, so mesh was not a bad thing in my view. BUT the glut of fashion stores out there now selling at stupidly low prices, has given me a run or two.. So I think what has happened is the focus on community, and RP and just plain fun has shifted to "lets get in on this ride and make a buck" sadly few actually do make any money at this unless you are one of the BIG names/brands. The more that get into SL as a business the more likely to see more metaverse and branding happening, not to say they all will be successful cause most won't. But I do miss some parts of the good old days.
