how do i position HUDs?

It works the same way on any viewer.  When you right click on an object in your inventory, you will get a short menu of options.  If you want to attach the object as a HUD, you select Attach as HUD ... A second menu will open, asking you which attachment point you want to use.  Pick one. Once you have the object on your screen, you can move it around relative to its attachment point by selecting it with your Edit tool and dragging it with the colored arrows.  For more information, see https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/HUD .

Hi, to attach huds first locate it in your inventory. Right click it and choose attach to hud. Choose one of those locations. If you don't like that location, detach it and repeat with a different location. You can reposition the hud further once it is on your screen by right clicking it and choosing edit, this will give you blue and green arrows you can use to move the hud around. Once you are happy with its position, detach it. Now next time you want to wear it, right click and choose wear and the hud will automatically go back to the last place you put it.
