your first step is missed i think, look at your order history, it will tell if a order is cancelled and why, ánd not less important if you did a market buy or limit buy.
In case of the last, look at your exchange rate you chose. If that is unrealistic compared to the current marketdata  248/249 or at most 250 cancel it and do a market buy.

@liljorja, go to the Linden Exchange section of your Dashboard page. Click Manage, then click LindeX Order History. If it shows you have an order outstanding, then everything is working correctly. When you place a Best Price (Limit Buy) order, it's an OFFER to buy L$ at a specified price. LL takes your money and places it "in escrow", and you wait until 1) the price of L$ falls to or below your offered price, and 2) all outstanding orders placed before yours are filled. This can take a long time, especially if the price you offered is not realistic (it's outside the normal trading range).

If you get tired of waiting, you can cancel your order. The money then goes into your $USD Balance, NOT back to your PayPal account. You can then place an Instant Buy order, or another Limit Buy at a more realistic price offer. The money will be taken first from your $USD Balance. If additional money is needed, the remainder will be charged to your payment method.
