We currently own a SIM, where we have the main living level.  There are currently 4 other levels that were added either above or below the original SIM.  If we deleted the "levels" that were unused, does that lower the tier price we currently pay, or does it not matter?  We are trying to decide if we want a smaller SIM or if we keep the current and just delete the levels not used would lower the current monthly payment.  I hope that makes sense

Deleting the other levels from the region will not lower the current monthly payment.

The monthly tier amount is based on whether it's a full estate region or a homestead region or a full mainland region, and if a full estate region whether you upgraded (and pay the extra monthly fee) for additional LI allowance.   So how many levels you might have on that region doesn't matter.

there are only 3 region types

full region - 65536 sqm with 20.000 ór 30.000 Li ( prims) the last one for a additional fee
homestead region - 65536 sqm with 5000 Li and max 25 visitors
Open Space regiong - 65536 sqm with 1000 Li with max 10 visitors

you can rent all from third party landlords ( note: openspace regions are very rare, and absolutely not suited for any other use as decoration and a sail through)
you can buy a full region
you can only buy a homestead when you own at least one full region
you can only buy a open space region with also owning t least a full region

so going down to a lower Li region, goes in very big steps... if you'r used to a full region, the 5000 limit of a homestead will hit in very fast and might feel limited for your use.
