Hello Mackenzey. Sounds odd. Personally first time i hear something like that. Maybe someone older than me knows more. Feel free to add me in world just to see if i am still in your friends after you relog.

Do your friends lose you off their list when they log in again?

I think you should try to empty your viewers cache by going to me->Preferences->Setup. Press Reset next to the cache location field. Log out and back in again and try to add someone as a friend. Log out and back in again and see if they are still on the list.
