In truth, nobody's interpretation matters except for LL's legal team and any court if the matter gets taken to court.

That's what I was going to say. lol

Really, there is nothing LL can do (even legally) to stop people from sharing accounts. All they can do is suspend or ban the accounts in question.

Thing is, should someone log in on another person's account and commits illegal acts (money laundering, etc) who ever originally owned the account is the one held liable by LL. In turn LL is held liable by the laws. So, in effect, what they are saying (to me) is that if I let someone use my account and they do something really stupid, I'm the one LL goes after. Not the person who used the account, with or without permission.

LL has never said it is ok to share your password. What they have said is that IF YOU DO make damn sure it is someone you CAN trust [or change your password immediately after they log out or even while they are logged in]. Just don't tell LL you are letting someone else use your account. That also came directly from more than one Linden.

What it all boils down to is if you do allow someone to use your account YOU WILL BE HELD LIABLE. Whether or not the person had your permission to use your account has no bearing on it. You will be held accountable for the actions of the person using your account.

What I'd like to know is how LL even knew the OP logged onto his wife's account since he mentioned his account being locked.  This seems a bit suspicious since I could.log in on my son's computer at the library using their WiFi.

LL must see where we log in. Let us say OP logs in his account in Spain. 2 hours later, his wife logs in his account from Australia.

Hmm, LL thinks, can you get to Australia from Spain in 2 hours? It must be two different people using one account.

But is someone actually paying attention to that or is it some automated function because I've never heard of such a thing.

What Marianne describes can be easily done automatically and I suspect that's what happened here.

My guess is that they do have some automatic monitoring going on, which probably then triggers a manual review before an account is locked.

This happens if you are in different locations for security reasons LL will temporary lock down account. If you are living in same location I am not sure.. reason might be different.

Happened to me after I change my location temporary (1 week) lock. After 1 week they open my account.. They are trying to figure out if you are actual user or account hacked.

Best way to find out send a ticket :) with alt account.

I only used my computer at work, I had to travel for work and she stayed at home, and from work I accessed the account on my notebook, which I always use, sometimes (since I am very bad with mesh and BoM) she enters the my account and fix my grandfather, change my clothes and fix my grandfather. what man never asked for help to the woman to fix her look?

Ahh. You logged in away from home using an IP that Linden Lab didn't know was associated with you. That could be why your account was put on hold or suspended. LL may have thought your account was compromised. I think filing a support ticket would be in order.

Ahh.

And this is the exact reason why giving another access, TO HELP YOU,  is needed and hardly illegal. It is just a form of Remote Access.  Remote access is a built in program in Windows, plus there a dozen other companies that make remote access software.  But why go to that much trouble, when you can do remote access within SL?

I have to help a disabled partner dress and make new outfits, since Mesh and those ridiculous Bento head huds were too much for her.  Every time she buys a new outfit, I need to make that into an outfit she can just use "Replace Current Outfit" to wear.  There is NO other way she could enjoy SL at this point in her life.

I doubt SL wants to be accused of discrimination against the old and disabled, and the technically impaired.  Well maybe that's what the new owners have in mind - get rid of anyone over 60, or has a disability at ANY age, cause they don't deserve what little fun they get in life in SL.  Hopefully SL is not that rigid and cruel these days.

You can have as many of your own accounts logged in at the same time if your computer is up to the task.  I was just at a club where someone had 5 of their accounts logged in, standing around together.  Not sure why though.
