Ever gone to an event and someones wearing the same outfit as your new one ?   OOPS !

My understanding is that women (per stereotype) will gasp and run to change clothes, while men (per stereotype) will "High Five" each other and say "Yay, I got it right".

Personally, in RL, my wardrobe is typically dated enough that I've never had that problem.  In SL, I don't think it has happened to me, but is totally possible since I sometime am oblivious to other people's attire.

All. The. Time.

The problem in SL is that so many people rely upon the sales and events to furnish them with their wardrobe . . . until the next sale or event rolls around. So, you buy this wonderful new dress (at an event that is being attended by thousands of other women also looking for a wonderful new dress), and are excited to wear it to the club that night . . . and invariably there is at least one other woman who has had exactly the same thought.

I'm probably a little stupid about this. Another woman wore a new dress I'd been saving to show off to a club I go to every Sunday night. This was about 2 months ago . . . and I still can't bring myself to wear this dress i love to that club because someone had already worn it there.

Yeah, that's me. The anti-consumerist, pro-sustainability socialist. Can't you tell?

/me sighs.

Nope.

Sometimes have done fun stuff in uniform but apart from that? In a world of infinite possibilities only the clueless would worry? surely :) I mean, thinking for oneself still is a thing

Yes, the World Scout Jamboree. I'm told that doesn't count, though.

(I was just terrified because I had to borrow a uniform from someone who had a first aid badge I hadn't earned. Spent the whole time thinking "please nobody keel over, I will be screwed!!")

Release your inner model. Do it better. Simple but oh so elegant. ;)

Very regularly. I wear a popular tuxedo set from Lapointe & Bastchilde and if I go to a formal event you can bet that at least one guy, if not more, is wearing the same one.

One day I saw a guy wearing a different outfit from me but he had the exact same skin and hair. You'd have thought we were twins, except he was about 30% taller and 60% thinner.

I don't remember it happening but then I see jelly dolls a lot.  I've never seen someone dressed as a jelly doll though, so perhaps that's an idea if you actually want to look the same as everybody else.

I've seen two avatars wear the same style / outfit and the fight over it, I swear it was 2 alts controlled by the same user.

My alt is always trying to raid my closet.  it's led to some tremendous fights.

This really has not happened to me very often, even after I shop at the events and sales.  If it does I might change up the texture so at least we are not wearing the same colors/patterns.  If I buy an outfit that has many parts I typically won't wear all of them at the same time or copy the picture.

When we first started using mesh clothes there was very little choice and there was a good chance people would look the same but thankfully we’ve reached a level of choices similar to what we had with system clothes. I have never run into anyone with the same mesh clothes.

My wife tells me that in RL, if two women show up at the same party wearing the same outfit, it causes a rift in the space-time continuum.  I'm not sure what happens in SL though.

No, but then I rarely dress off the peg. I customise the hell out of every look, so it's unlikely that I'll ever bump into anyone wearing the same thing as me.

I usually just say "Yay!" if I see another mushroom. I've never really understood people getting upset over picking the same thing as someone else. It just means you have similar tastes, so that's not a bad thing.

The region crashes but forunately restarting it isn't an issue.

Only once, very early in my SL.  I thought it was a stalker.  I didn't buy it any events as I didn't know about events then.  Weeks later I come to find out it's one of the biggest brands in SL.  So, was not a stalker.

I try not to wear things by popular creators that I purchased from super recent shopping events, and if I do I rarely wear a full set together because I love to mix and match with other brands.  In my opinion, the hardest thing to resist wearing straight out of the store is hair. I have so many hair twins out in the world! Good quality mesh hair is far less plentiful.

@Scylla Rhiadra Wear your dress!

Judging from the offerings shopping events have for men, a bunch of us are going to end up being sneakers, sweatpants, and tank top twins or even triplets for that matter. haha
