Hi Shar,

Try and copy paste information from the viewer menu Help - > About .., insert it in a post here, this will make it eassier to help you.

It sounds though as if you have problems with your internet connection being slow.

If you're using the default Linden Lab's viewer, then make sure that you have "Enable JavaScript" and "Enable plugins" ticked in Preferences -> Setup. Furthermore, whitelist the SLPlugin.exe that sits in the the main folder of the program in your antivirus software, as it may be interfered or blocked from operating.
