Strangely enough, I went looking at two of these today. The Campion region in Heterocera is the highest altitude on the grid, followed by Svecia in the Sharp Continent (Old Teen Grid), and then Tethys in Sansara. Get ready for a slow walk, and watch out for orbs! I only looked from parcels that were for sale nearby so didn't experience any myself, but there are private parcels there so be aware. The temple at the top of Tethys looked as though it was open for visitors from the description in the 'about land'. 3
Ceka Cianci
There is the great wall also that is really neat.. you can ride or walk that whole thing up top.. I never went inside it though.. I know it's not a mountain, but it's pretty neat anyways.. 3
Benson Gravois
Do you have the LM?
Lewis Luminos
Terraforming in SL is very limited, so the equivalent of RL mountains isn't possible. I think the maximum above sea-level is around 200m to 300m. Anything bigger than that would have to be made of mesh and cover multiple regions, and to my knowledge, no-one has done that yet.

This is to the entrance of the great wall which, you can go inside and go up stair or even fly up to the very top and walk the top of it or inside it.. this LM puts you in the middle so you can go left or right.. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Jubata/172/139/114 2
Lindal Kidd
Well, you can't get really HIGH mountains in SL, but because a region is only 256X256 and you can terraform it up to 100m, you can get some really STEEP mountains!

They tend to be eyesores though. That parcel in the front right that I'm standing on is for sale. If I wasn't at my maximum capacity for tier, I'd have bought that.
Stephanie Misfit
You might find this entry on the wiki interesting http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Altitude At the bottom of the page there are links to entries about different mountains in SL.

I used to have my club between the wall and SLRR tracks a few years back before I took time off SL and sold the club to someone else. IIRC it was in Idia area.
Profaitchikenz Haiku
I would love there to be a virtual Everest to recreate some of the great ascents. If it were done in a single region with mesh, it might just get inside the 15,000 limit?
Mar Scarmon
The highest "natural" Mountain in mainland SL is Mount Campion (365 Meters) followed by Mount Campanula (360 Meters). Both of these mountains are part of Mount Campion National Forest in Heterocera. While I don't know that these offer an Alpine type climbing experience, there are numerous trails, canyons, and caves to explore. The park has over 100,000 sq meters of land, and is spread over six sims - it is open to the polite public. https://secondlife.com/destination/mount-campion-caves-national-forest There is a Mount Everest located in a private region that I believe is over 500 meters high (you can find it in search). As someone mentioned before, because a region's base area is 255x255 meters to get to that height it is pretty distorted and weird looking. They do have it landscaped to resemble what you would see on the real Mt. Everest. The mountains around Campion are natural because the land around them rises over numerous mainland sims in Northern Heterocera.

BJoyful
If I remember correctly there is Rock Climbing in The Rainforest area as well as a cave exploration once you reach the summit. I'm not sure of the exact SLurl, but this is near the FIYC (Fisher Island Yacht Club) and there's info givers near there. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cerrado/77/204/24 The area is really nice and beautifully built. Tor Karlsvalt
If you are interested in hiking a big mountain, try the regions of Alpine Meadow, Monastery, Friedsee and Neufreistadt in the Confederation of Democratic Simulators. There is a road that follows the two region long mountain stream that tumbles its way down the mountainside. There is also a marked trail through the woods past the old Monastery and over the mountain to Friedsee. It's all worth exploring. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Alpine Meadow/93/163/
