The bubble metaphor suggests other properties as well.  Like a real soap bubble,  a metaphorical bubble is fragile. It has a boundary that is hard to see yet difficult to cross without destroying it and dispersing whatever was inside. It is therefore very tempting to avoid disturbing the bubble,  for fear that it will not survive.  Nothing may enter or leave.

Thank you for decent explanation it is a fitting example for isolated environment.

What is your main reason for being in Second Life? What are you using it for? What is making you stay? And don't you get bored of it?
my main reason for being in SL is for the creativity, fashion/dressing up avatars, social aspects, and activities. i use SL mostly for the aspects of meeting people from around the world to feel like i am a part of something bigger than myself and the things that make me stay are mostly my tight group of friends and the constant content being released by creators, it surely keeps me entertained.

How would you like to see Second Life being upgraded so that it would let you do even more things?
i would like to see SL upgraded within their own viewer and within their own systems to where things do not lag as much. i hate crashing. that's about all.

PS:
i have enjoyed reading peoples' post in this thread. very interesting to see everyone's view points. ❤️

How does SL extend your real life (reality). What do you do in SL that you couldn't do in RL?

I use SL to socialise and be creative. I stay because I have friends here, more friends to make in future, and I love the land I own. I do get bored, I have been in SL for nearly 15 years and I did take a break for a while.

I have significant psychiatric and neurological disabilities. SL lets me do lots of things that are difficult for me in real life. It offers more than other online platforms in that respect so this is probably the biggest reason I stay.

I would like to see more in world creation tools. Building has been taken out of the world now, with mesh. I don't know what those tools could be but it would be nice to have something.

Maybe I answer the other questions later, but for now I jump to this one. I miss that continents are not connected. It should be open water regions between.

I miss that not every continent, every region, has sailable water around them. I live on the edge of the void, meaning I can admire the water, but not use it. A water region where no one can build, that encircle all land, would be awesome.

The Mainland should have more public land that makes it easier to explore. The roads often have security orbs that kill traffic. There should be a buffer between the road and the land you can buy. That would make it hard to unintentionally set the orb range too wide. Some people will still do it because they are rude, but more people are doing it by a mistake, than the rude ones.

If it is a small waterway, it can have objects extended into it. Same there, private land should not touch public sailable water. Or, the inland rivers should be wider than today.

LSL my main interest, talking with people around the world :) When I get bored I give a break and come back when I miss it. I have many alternatives to SL but SL only platform I can freely talk with random people around the world while other alternatives focuses only creation and-or entertainment (objective driven).

Needs user friendly interface for avatar appearance. I think new players having hard time to figure out inventory management and creating a avatar for their liking very hard at first time without another residents help. Explorer style inventory management not very friend they can discuss it with professional interface designers I am sure some one can provide basic alternative interfaces for new players.

You want what exactly?

Roads and bridges I meant figuratively. There are Second Life updates and extensions suggestions on Secondd Life Jira. Lots of suggestions made by many SL users that would extend and add to user experience in SL. I made few suggestions myself. I won't repeat them here because its off topic.
