Very ironic, given the central tenet of socialism is the even distribution of everything.

I'll get me coat...

Well, socialism isn't distributed evenly when you supply it on a needs-tested basis, or use some other factor to sort out people like location or race, which is certainly fine, given their higher impact.

Socialism isn't evenly distributed when you have not rapacious oligarchic capitalism as some imagine, but regulated capitalism at least in a democratic society under the rule of law.

So what are the ways to make it evenly distribute? Seriously.

I'm not for taking over the Capitol by force, and I don't care whether the people are doing this are Proud Boys or anti-fa. Taking over buildings by force is wrong and doesn't work long-term.

I'm not for populistically setting high taxes to skim from the rich -- because they flee to another setting that isn't hostile to business.

Where did Amazon go when AOC booted it from Queens? I think few people realize some of it went to...Manhattan, where our socialist mayor was maybe a bit of a wiser and more resigned socialist, but ultimately, still an idiot.

But Amazon writ large will go to, I dunno, Utah or something because they are happy to have jobs there even if Nomadland type jobs. The socialism you want to distribute evenly is always cited in small former colonialist powers like Britain; or Sweden of course; they aren't such models given everything that has gone wrong for them in all kinds of ways. This is a long and difficult debate and as I said, 9 pm I may be available if anyone wants to belabour it.

You could charge an admission fee for entrance to the debate. Could be interesting depending who is on the other side.

Rolig: "All of them show availability for my area on their initial page, but then when you actually drill down to scheduling it, there is no availability or the website scheduling does not work worth a damn."

Same here. You get a runaround leading to a cul de sac.

  • Call Doctor's office. "Can I get the vaccine?" "Contact your regional health center"
  • Spend half an hour finding regional health center on the web. "Register here". Yay! Enter info. "You will receive an email response in several weeks."
  • Read news item that CVS will have the vaccine in some states. Go to CVS site. My state's included! Yay! Check list of about 20 locations statewide (CVS must have 20 locations just within 20 miles of me). "All appointments booked."
  • Check local hospital's vaccination wing. They've held clinics in the past, but no new info on their website in the past 2 weeks.
  • Check with Walmart pharmacy. "Not now. Maybe soon."
  • Check Rite Aid. They got bought out by Walgreens. Check Walgreens. "Nope, sorry."

...And I'm in the priority group, too!

Quite appropriate they all standing with beggars cups being that socialism is great till the money runs out!

How would the money run out though if the excess wealth hoarded by the oligarchy would be distributed more fairly among the labor force.  Think, for example, of those working at Walmart owning part of the company and receiving higher wages as opposed to the obscene wealth hoarded by the owners of the company as they manipulate conditions in the attempt to extract as much as they can from the workers.

Being a Socialist does not have to mean one believes all money should be equally distributed, or that such an act would be accomplished via the government, and that the end result would be money "running out" for anyone.  This would be a sloppy, uniformed perception of Socialism.

The only way i could figure is, like in the past.. Those getting taxed  more might move their companies to countries where they don't, and taking the jobs with them, then paying even cheaper labor than they are now.. Even sweat shop labor maybe in some cases..

The more people out of work the more of a drain on the system there will be with people moving from working to assistance..

Also when wages go up, that cost usually gets handed down the line to the customer.. That and maybe even less jobs causing workers to be doing more work than they were before to fill the gap that someone held before..

I'm sure I'm missing a lot , but it's early and I'm just taking a stab at it running empty on my tea gauge. I'm not really putting a deep thought into it.. but usually when things end up costing more for those guys way up there, it usually ends up sliding down on us in some way..

hehehe

Yes, getting down to the practical and attempting to figure out how to create a more just society is no easy task! All I know for sure is that this 'trickle down' economics should be called 'trickle on' economics....lol...as we should know by now those on the lower levels do not benefit from padding the income of the wealthy -- those who hoard money simply use this 'trickle down' ruse to channel more of it to themselves.

Perhaps we should create an economics thread to examine it more. I suspect, though, that in 20 or 30 years we will be more localized due to climate change and oil depletion, and will not need to concern ourselves so much with corporations hoarding money via overseas adventures.

Nah, getting a stilt home was way easier. I consider this year already canceled, because the government can't get their ***** together and it might take them until next winter to finally get to the general population. At least thats my estimate.

There is no way in hell we're back to normal for summer. By the time vaccinations are more or less sorted out, we're going to be up to our eyeballs in wave 2, because too many people couldn't follow simple instructions the first time round.

The only real thing that's really been driven home, is just how gleefully ignorant some people are when it comes to things smaller than they can poke / shoot / find in a 2000 year old 3 times mistranslated book.
