TL,DR ... how do you change the eye color on this avatar?????

So, not new to SL but my alt canine avatar has an issue. I went with the Realistek Mesh Dog avatar for a number of reasons, among them to stick to one breed (grey husky), and the fact that I really liked the look of the avatar. Could have gone with TWI (I have deer, wolf, and lion under another account) but whatever. It's done now. According to the extensive notecard provided ...

CAN I CHOOSE A DIFFERENT EYE COLOR OR ADD HOVERTEXT?
Double click on the shadow to get an extra dialog of options:
AFK on/off button
New Text: press this then type text into chat to have as hovertext over your avatar.
Text Color: change the color of the hovertext.
Text %: hovertext show/ hide
left eye, right eye: choose yellow, blue, or green eyes.
claw tint: To remind you that you can manually tint many parts of your avatar (including gender bits).
body tint: see if it works for you, or tint manually if you like (note .. 'Edit Linked' and 'Select Face' will be required .. search youtube)

Cool. Clicking or double clicking on the shadow though simply .. guess what .. shows and hides the shadow. Now the next part is NOT A JAB at the talented Zed, the developer of the Realistek line but when I asked him about this he said "No, clicking the shadow hides and shows the shadow" (yes, I can see that!) and suggested clicking "some other part" of the dog's shape to get the menu up. Now, if he doesn't know how to do it, I'm not sure who might. So I'm crowd-sourcing my question ...

Has anyone ever managed to change the eye color of their Realistek Mesh Dog and if so, how?????

This old husky needs blue eyes :) Thanks.

Have you tried clicking and hold on the shadow for a few seconds?  I have an item that uses this method.  Touch and hold brings up the texture change menu on my item.

Do that and release? It just hides (or shows) the shadow.

Might want to try asking in one of the many feral community groups.

This is my next stop. No one in either Realistek group has offered any clue.

What happens when you do as Zed suggested and click on the avatar?

There is no other place to click on the avatar except the ears (which them flop for 10 seconds or so) or the genitalia which brings down a three item menu (texture, rings, sounds). I have tried face, body, nose, legs, tail, etc etc etc. Have tried the click and hold pattern as well ... nothing.

And I have been here off and on for about 5 years, and run other animal/feral/beast types avatars without issue, I've just run out of tricks trying to figure this one out. May wind up just going with a TWI Wolf (with their really cool HUD), and a modified shape from one of the skin places for dog breeds.

Good Morning! ..i will go and put on the avatar and give you a proper 'checked out' answer :) .. i have built so many animals and they are all a little different .. and definately i built one that had a click-on / click-off shadow, so that made sense when you described it...   but maybe it wasnt this avatar after all(!). I admit the way i tried writing the notecard for the avatar was not ideal at all! OK .. back in 10mins! ....(runs away inworld)

Ah.. the shadow is 1 click on/off .. but to get the menu for changing eyes etc is a double click on the shadow.

(a fast double click)

While it does work well, i would agree that i went too far.. its not intuitive to require that.

Sometimes my trickiness in order to save a prim gets in the way sorry!

I managed to get it to work as you say, Zed. Chatted to someone in world and they stressed a very rapid double click, but weirdly enough I had tried that. I was in a dog-friendly grassy area and had never had any luck, yet back at my apartment on the wooden floor I finally got the rapid double click to work. I have no idea why I wasn't able to before ... I had easily tried 30+ times but it finally worked. Thank you to everyone who helped. And Zed, the avatar itself is amazing, thanks for all your hard work.

P.S. Can I get a Belgian Malinois next? :)
