I have an alt that I want to have a premium account, but I do not want to have payment info on the account. Will it work for me to pay them lindens and let them withdraw dollars, which they would leave as a balance in their Tilia account. Then, when there were fees due for the account, they would be paid from the Tilia dollar balance. Is this all correct?

If no dollars were ever paid out of the Tilia account, but the dollar balance was only used to pay LL fees, would I be required to furnish any information to LL for taxation purposes?

They won't be able to sell the L$ without first buying some (or paying for a Premium membership), which requires payment info.  That is because the rules around selling L$ and the associated Credit Limits all are based on the fist time the user uses their Payment info to buy L$ ( or buy a Premium membership).

Also note that adding Payment info in order to let the account pay for Premium membership, does not require any other information be given to LL -- i.e. any other info for tax purposes.

Or you can gift a premium account -- call Billing.  You would have to keep track of the renewal so that you could call Billing to renew it.  You would not want LL to attempt a renewal charge with no payment info, as that would cause the account to go into arrears and be in danger of being locked.

Another option beside gifting:  Add payment info and pay for the Premium.  Once the charge goes through, remove the payment info and in the future you'll be able to sell L$, leaving the money in the Tilia USD balance to cover the renewals.

Along with LittleMe's info in order to sell your Linden dollars and get a USD balance you would also need to agree to the Tilia TOS and privacy policy  if you have not already. (Privacy policy was different from each other for US and non-US in the past. Not sure about now.)  When I did a test a couple of weeks ago, Linden Lab wanted a social security number --- this having nothing to do with moving USD balance to Paypal as in "cashing out".  Thing can change at any time of course, so you won't know until you try.

How odd.

I did a sell the other day, using my new 'bank' alt and all she had to do was agree to the Tilia TOS.  She does have PayPal on her account, that she has used to buy L$ before.  She's not ever sold L$ though and she still didn't have to give her SSN for this sell.

The only place LL has ever requested my SSN is on the "Provide Additional Information" screen that I have at the top of the Process Credit window.

I wonder what the full rules are and what things affect when they ask for info.

This was an alt also who had never sold lindens but had been premium for a long while.   Have no clue.  There was that big "we need more info from you" sign and they wanted SSN.  Could have just been WRONG as we see things like that a lot on the web (this from a former web designer who ALWAYS TESTED MANY TIMES  :D.   So I don't know the answer there.  I am going to go test again.

OK. NOW the only thing that shows up is the Tilia TOS (no privacy agreement mentioned interestingly enough).

So whatever was going on was "fixed" or "changed" or whatever.

With new owners -- and ones which seemingly wanted Tilia and took SL as a secondary product -- who knows what will change in the future.   I am happy to see that you don't need to agree to the privacy policy  OK SCRATCH THAT.  While one screen says you only need to agree to the TOS when you go forward you still have to agree to both.

You can still apparently make a new account without agreeing to either.  I didn't make one but it "looks" that way anyway.

LL won't let you do this. Reason: They really want to have a way to get paid that doesn't depend on you remembering to keep money in your $USD Balance.
