My Resident Geek has been trying for three months now to assemble the components to upgrade me to a new machine. It's proving impossible to get one of the new AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs or a top tier graphics card, either Nvidia or Radeon. Not only are cryptocurrency miners snapping up all the silicon of any sort, there is a worldwide chip shortage.

Waiting sucks.

Definitely budget friendly would help.

It won't. For a decent SL experience on a laptop, you'll have to dig up at least $1000.

Get a laptop with at least a GTX 1660 in it. Or an RTX 2060.

Also, the laptop will definitely be noisier when running SL, because the constantly blowing cooling fans are closer to your ears than those in a 'desktop' computer case hidden under a desk. Also, these desktop rigs can be equipped with fans that are much more silent.

I got my lappy off the shelf at Office Depot. and my SL has been great since. Cost me like $400.  HP Pavilion with 12GB of RAM.

Has an i5 8250U intel processor.

Yes, you can find a budget lappy that can run SL    You have to do some searching.

I have a friend who has a gaming PC and she has troubles all the time with lag.

EDIT: I have added an external fan under it to keep it cool.
