Ok so when I try on clothes it's like they are not fitting my avatar right and I'm putting the right clothes for my body on but it's like holes are in the clothes like my skin is showing I even edited my avatar's shape but the clothes are still glitching

Check the folder your clothes came in for an alpha layer first. You need to wear an alpha layer if you are using a standard, non mesh body. If you are wearing a mesh body then you need to use the alpha HUD that comes with your mesh body to hide the parts of your body that are poking through, or if your mesh body is bakes on mesh enabled, you can wear the alpha layer that was provided with the clothing.

This is a part of a 3D model world. In professional 3D games the modelers remove the body under the clothes. Then nothing pokes through the clothes to make them look like they have holes.

In SL we have so many options and possibilities for what we wear removing the body doesn't always work. For instance if you wear a see-through dress then removing body under the clothes would not look right. So, when we put on clothes the option for which parts of the body should be removed or kept is up to us. Which is why Stephanie says look for an alpha layer, which is what we use when our body is Classic/BoM.

Those making clothes and things in SL are often hobbyists, not professional 3D modelers. It takes some advanced skills to make tight clothes fit well and move with the body while avoiding having skin poke-through clothes. Some clothes designers provide alpha layers to reduce the effort they have to put into modeling and testing the item. For really skin tight clothes alpha layers are the preferred and more practical solution.

I am finding that many designers seem to think making the alpha layers is up to us. While alpha layers are easy to make, it is a drag having to try something on then have to make an alpha layer before you can actually wear an item. 😖 So demo demo demo. If there is a poke-through and no included alpha layer, tell the designer you did not buy because you saw poke-through and there was no alpha and that is why you did not buy.

There are packages of alpha layers in the marketplace. Some free, some paid, and all a PITA to dig through looking for just the right one. However, they will probably provide 90%+ of what you need. Also, a set of alpha layers comes with my Slink body and there are more free ones in the Slink shop (which work with ANY BoM body). I understand most bodies come with some number of free/included alpha layers.

If you are wearing an older Applier non-BoM Body, then the alpha control is in the body's HUD.

Always try the demos first if you can, that way you will know how much alpha cuts on your body HUD you will have to use.  I have a bit of a tummy on my Lara body and some clothing is impossible to alpha without half my belly being transparent (HUD cuts aren't small enough).  I just founf out that many designers install a script into the clothes that activates the alpha cuts for your body when you put the clothes on.
