What are some items that are surprisingly cheap but look damn good?

just a FYI

if we want to wear rigged mesh bits/pieces and we don't want these to be found/interrogated by other people's scripts then attach the rigged bit/piece to a viewer HUD attachment point. Scripts can't 'see' viewer HUD attachments

Wow. I'd never have thought of that. I'd never have thought you could even do that.

I'm never wearing something I care to hide, tbh, but that's cool info, Molly. Thank you.

me either. Some people do tho

SL in this respect has quite a lot in common with the movie "The Circle". Privacy pfft! Transparency is all

I watched The Circle on Netflix, is pretty interesting. Lots of silicon google facebook concepts mixed in as well. Tom Hanks plays the 'villain' and plays the part quite well, selling the idea that knowing everything about everyone is the most reasonable thing ever for the advancement of the human condition

There are only 8 total HUD attachment spots though and many people use at least one or two of those on a regular basis.

Not that I, personally, give a rat's ass whether anyone knows what I'm wearing or not.

yes that's true. We can tho attach multiple items (up to the 38 max. limit) to the same attachment point if we want

Yeah, but not to the HUD attachment spots -- or can we?

And multiple attachments to the same spot on our bodies tend to cause issues during TPs.  That is one of the most common reasons for an attachment to appear to be there but not be - or vice versa.

yes, in the Linden viewer we can. Dunno about the TPVs

and yes as you mention, too many attachments on the same point can cause stuff to detach or not render after teleport sometimes. I find that 2 or 3 on same point are ok for me

I am a bit of a bling bunny tho. I have rarely met an attachment I never liked. If I had a 100 max. attachment limit it still wouldn't be enough 😺

Like nearly everyone else in SL, I have that HUD, and occasionally use it . . . but wow does it seem invasive.

Not to mention over-brimming with TMI. Sometimes, you just don't want to know everything that someone is wearing. 😦

Well, yeah, no arguments there.  I don't use it all the time.  Some rigged clothes are harder to get a lock on with the edit or inspect window without triggering local chat spam if you accidentally hit their private bits. Accidental molestation would be even more embarrassing.

Sometimes - as in the case I use it for most often - it's invaluable. We often have people coming into our support group for help, and they swear up and down and sideways that nope they're not wearing the XYZ attachment that is probably causing their issue. After spending 30 minutes exhausting every other option (and usually including checking at least one more time are they absolutely SURE they're not wearing XYZ and having them assure me that nope, they're 100% certain they're not, because they've removed every single attachment) I will then ask them to meet me at the store location.

As soon as they've rezzed, I scan them, and guess what? More often than not they are indeed wearing the XYZ attachment that they swore they weren't. 9_9

You can - but bear in mind that if you do, ONLY YOU CAN SEE IT. It will appear in it's proper rigged place to you, but will be invisible to anyone else.

This is exactly what my crafty fellow Catwa CSRs did when the first two female heads from the new range had been given to them for testing and they couldn't actually wear them in public yet. So it does have its uses.

Wow, this is clever and useful. I can totally see uses for this -- for photographs taken in public, for instance. Too bad it will only work for rigged items, but still . . .

another use case is busy events. Example: dermal jewellery (which I wear a lot of). Can lessen the load for everyone else present and still look as we want on our screen

could do it the other way as well

could wear mesh to cover up for everyone else and then derender our own clothes. And then to be really creepy, add bits to viewer HUD attachment point!!

i think I need to stop thinking about this kinda stuff 😸

I was just at the Collabor88 event and saw this for 88L. I think that meets the criteria for the subject of the post. Makes me wish I had some really steep mainland to put it on.

I always buy that store's Collabor 88 items. Because, who knows when I can need it.

The house it self is good, and with some other texture or a few prims to hide the shadows after the rock, it can be used other places.

Most of us live where a neighbor either set up a "privacy wall" or we want one ourselves because what's on the other land is absolutely not what we are willing to look at.* Place a house with no windows on one side, like this, up to the land border.

*Yes I know I can derender. It is not always practical.

I am doing a new build and just bought a bunch of stuff from a place called keke.  Keke has quite a few items under 100 lindens right now that are just adorable and charming and I left her/him a bunch of 5-star reviews.  I'd check it out because I don't know if all these under 100 linden items are a sale or not.  Very low impact items as well.  Really cute stuff!

I will post the link for you because it's an unusual name and keke is just part of the name and whole name is keke - glitter, flowers, lamps, furniture, clutter decor

Yeah!  Way cute!  It was my first time shopping there.  I'm doing a new build so I needed new stuff and keke - glitter, flowers, lamps, furniture and clutter decor fit the bill and it's really good stuff too!   Keke has a bit of modern also that is very affordable if anyone is interested in modern.

I also shopped at Kalopsia for my new build and Kalopsia has 211 items right now priced at under 100 lindens and I don't know if these are sales prices or not.  Kalopsia is also really great stuff - all the items I got I gave 5 stars.
