Can I pick a specific house when getting a Linden Home. The one I am interested in is not occupied at this time.

I don't want to be assigned one.

sorry no. We can't pick a Linden Home location directly

the reason for this is that if we could then the early movers (older accounts) grab all the prime locations. Leaving only the less desirable locations for the later movers (newer accounts)

the random allocation method is designed to ameliorate this issue

only way to get a self-preferred location is to play the Game of Homes. Get a Home from the website, abandon it if we don't like the location, get another Home, abandon again, and so on til we get a location that we are happy with. We can abandon up to 5 times in each 24 hour period.

Nope.   You request a home in a specific theme (Traditional, Victorian, Camping, Stilt, Chalet, Log Home .... ) and you will be offered a parcel at random in that theme.  You don't need to accept it (or, having accepted it, you may abandon it and request again).  Some people participate in that "Game of Homes" for the fun of it, swapping out homes every few months.   

Once you have a parcel, you can chose among several home models within the theme, and can experiment by changing models at the touch of a button.  In most themes, the house itself is customizeable -- at least as far as interior textures and colors are concerned -- and of course you can decorate both inside and outside.  Read the covenant to be sure that you understand both the possibilities and the limitations.  You cannot alter the appearance of the home so that it fails to conform to the theme of the region, for example, but you can add decks, carports, swimming pools, and the like.  There is a vigorous market for add-on construction components and decorative details, so you can add interior walls and furnishings.

Sort of.  After you request the home in a specific theme, the next page is not you accepting a specific location, but you simply agreeing to the Linden Home rules.  At that point, you still have no clue where the house will be, because it still isn't assigned yet.  You can even accept the rules and then get told that homes are no longer available in your chosen theme.  Once you do accept the terms, if there is a house available to you, it is assigned to you and you then would have to Abandon it.
