Filo Minnelli
I would like to ask advice for a man body. It is probably a topic already covered but I confess that I am very confused. Even though I look old in Second Life I am actually very young because I haven't participated much until now. Until now I have used all free products for my avi but I realize that if I don't start buying something I will never have a good product. I don't want to spend a lot so I ask for advice on a good body and head and skin set that is beautiful and for which there are also free clothes. In short, something nice that does not cost a fortune. Please note that I am a beginner so I would be grateful if you could give me for example a set with a list of necessary components. Thanks in advance. Filo

A fortune is a rather vague parameter. A decent male body costs around L$3-5K. There are cheaper ones, but you won't find skins or clothes for them, and there are more expensive ones that'll have the same issue. If you want a body that you can actually use, you've got four or five bodies to pick from, three of which are considered the 'mainstream' that 'most' creators will rig stuff for, one of which is terribly outdated, one of which is sold by one of the scummiest brands in SL. 5 hours ago, Filo Minnelli said: Please note that I am a beginner so I would be grateful if you could give me for example a set with a list of necessary components. That depends entirely on what you want your avatar to be, and what you want it to be capable of doing. But to cover the very basics you'll need: A body. A head. A skin. A shape (that you can make yourself, or buy one). On top of that, things like hair/beard, accessories, clothes, 'bits', etc. can be added to style your avatar to your liking. Lewis Luminos
There's really no good quality AND free/low-cost options for men. There is nice, expensive stuff. There is passable, old, free/cheap stuff. These two are never the same thing. You need to make a decision on how much real money you're willing to spend on body, head, skin, hair and a basic outfit or two. If your decision is not "US $50 or more", then it's probably not worth you upgrading at all. It's certainly not worth buying any mesh body that isn't one of the top two (Signature Gianni if you want muscular, or Legacy if you want slim) and the cheapest of those two is Gianni at L$4k. That's about L$1200 more than the top selling female body. Belleza Jake and Slink have fallen by the wayside, Slink because of lack of clothing support and Jake because of the lack of updates and significant annoying features like incomplete BOM support and failing hand animations. Any other body has almost no clothing options at all. (And people wonder why so many men have female avatars these days... *smh*) That said, you don't have to buy everything at once. I started with the body first and used that with the system head for more than a year before I finally got a mesh head. And with BOM, I am still using the same skin I've been using since about 2013. And most of the mesh clothing you have already will still work with a mesh body, and judicious use of the alpha hud and/or alpha layers. So while $50 sounds like a lot, you can spread it out. Over a whole year, that's about US $4 a month. Push it up to $5 a month and you'll have enough for three or four extra outfits too.
