   I'll have you know that those are real pancakes. They are flat as pancakes, unlike those lumpy chunks of air bread served across the pond!

I agree, those are European pancakes.  Polish pancakes are also amazing served with sour cream and French pancakes served with whipped cream and berries.  European pancakes are way better than the American kind.  I don't eat much sugar in general, so don't want syrup anyways.  I love potato pancakes but they are also called "latkas".
