Question

So, it is my understanding that one can make up to 5 alts per email address.
My question however is if my main has payment info on file, will each alt which is registered to the same email address automatically have payment info on file as well?

To put the question differently: If I make alt XYZ with the same email address as my main, will that automatically inherit my payment info?

Nope.  Each account is completely separate from the others, as if it were owned by a different person.  You may use the same payment information for all of them, but you will have to enter the information explicitly for each account.  It won't copy automatically.

Rolig gave the payment answer, but here is a side note to your comment:  You can actually have more than 5 accounts with the same email address.

Weirdly i have never put payment info on any accounts other than me yet on the profiles of all but one of my alts it shows them having payment info even if they don't use all use the same e-mail as me and if there is none showing on their actual accounts

Did you use payment info to age verify way back when they did that?

I used another method to age verify myself, only had payment info on this account. Seems web profiles and in world legacy profiles are showing two different things in the payment info section. Not sure why the web side would incorrectly show PIOF

It would be interesting to know why that is like that.  Maybe payment info used means it has been used and the on file was what they put for age verification?  Even if some other form was used?  It's been so long I don't remember how things were worded.

I was curious and found this.  It's from 2016 but it might explain the different wording too.  Payment info used for buying things on the MP even if no payment info is on file.

there are two kinds of payment info now. one only matters for the marketplace purchases now, it means that any payment method, including linden dollars, has been set up for that avatar. this is what shows up in web profiles.

the other kind of payment info is real payment info, like a credit card or Paypal. this is the "traditional" payment info on file that lets you get to restricted parcels inworld tc. and this is the one that is now the gateway to creating a marketplace shop.
