Using Bforartists which is just blender with a userfriendly interface. I'm using a dummy kit for a feral gacha avatar as my first test to make animations; I was going to upload a preview of the .bvh to see how it actually looked inworld but I'm getting this error.

Can anyone explain/break down how to find and rename the root joint to "hip" in a way that a SUPER beginner can figure out, or whatever it wants me to do? This is the interface I'm currently looking at.

@AnuuubisIf you open the bvh file in a text editor, you can see what bones have been exported. Chances are that you've exported the animation skeleton instead of the deformation skeleton, which bones are named with "m" prefix ie mPelvis, mShoulder and so on. If that's the case, you should find that skeleton in the outline window. Make it visible, select its root and try to export again
