Not sure if this is a troll post but I will take it in good faith. Yes it is cheating. Online affairs can be just as devastating to your partner as real life affairs. What matters is the affect it has

If your wife feels that it is and you did say "caught" so I'll assume you had been hiding that from her, than yes, it's cheating.

Just tell her it was with another dude. Because, as we've all been told, time and time again, there are no women on the internet. (And if there were, they wouldn't be interested in virtual sex.)

Sorry, but no.

If I'm engaged in sex with someone in SL (which I am not, but work with me here for a moment), I am not "porn." I am a real, living person who, just like the OP's wife, has real feelings. I am not a program, or a recording, or AI, or algorithms. And I'm a lot more than the sum of my textures and triangles.

You have an important point there. But it can be just porn and from the original post, I certainly got the impression it was in this case.

In any case, what is really important is, if you are in a partnership, try not to hurt your partner's feelings. If he/she feels virtual sex on the side is cheating, it is cheating.

Whether or not it is porn is an individual viewpoint and each person is entitled to theirs.

Whether or not it is cheating is a marital discussion issue, as there are many viewpoints regarding that also.

OP is very likely just trolling.

Any idiot knows that the topic needs to be discussed with the marital partner and not decided by a bunch of strangers on the internet.

Hi folks,

A thread with the word porn in the title. One would expect me to answer. So here we go .:-)
A funny thing about our forum: We get a troll and still manage to turn it into an interesting debate. Well done residents.

Back to topic:

Wether or not Second Life sex is porn, is subject to the perception of the person in question. In this (presumably fake, hence theoretical) case, the wife percieves sl sex as porn, hence in this context it is porn. What really strikes me odd here is that watching porn, in whatever shape or form, is theoretically considered cheating.

Seriously?

As most of you guys know, I run a couple of Second Life related websites of adult nature (yes, porn basically). Those produce more traffic than most non-sexual-second-life blogs together (excluding some really outstanding tutorial-style websites such as Strawberry Singh’s and a few others). People do read /watch (respond to/ interact with pornographic content. Fact.

My educated guess is that not all of my readers are singles. That means statistically there are hundreds of people on my sites cheating every day  -  if watching porn is considered cheating that is (I can see that on Google Analytics).

My take:

No, it is not cheating, it is self-stimulation, nothing wrong with that (especially when he “saves the last dance for her").

Meh...I have any deep or philosophical take on this topic.  I simply reduce it to the simplest form.

I consider SL sex as interactive cartoon porn...which is pretty self explanatory.  We are cartoons interacting with other cartoons in a pornographic manner.

I think that is why I always laugh when I see someone who refers to themselves as an "SL pornstar".  Anyone can get naked and jump on a poseball.  There's no real skill involved in that.

Porn is a very broad concept. Porn is when the form is more important than the story. When the cover is more important than the content. Porn is when you have 'Breaking News' flashing on your screen 10 times per day. Porn is when you order a pizza but you couldn't care less about the pizza.

Dude, how long have you been married? Three days? I guess you still have to learn. Your wife is always right.

I actually expected someone else first

Anyway, we are being trolled.  The OP was viewing/visiting though not "discussing"  this thread for hours after its creation.  Also this is their 2nd ever post and I cannot find their first post, suggesting it was removed in the past.  Finally, shouldn't this be down in the adult forums?

No bodily fluids were exchanged. All I can say is I do things in SL I can't or won't do in RL

hehehe Let me say this.. If i walk into the room and my husband has his pants around his ankles and some girl in the bed.. It won't matter if he's pulling them up or taking them down..

They both have the amount of time it takes me to get back with the shot gun to get the hell out of my house.. either way, I'm shooting the hell out of that bed and getting a new one..

hehehe
