Julia Blackwood
Is there any chance that the migration to AWS will bring with it a reduction in land pricing? Or the possibility of more land options, like the ability to purchase a homestead without having to own a full region, or even a greater variety of homestead sizes?
Qie Niangao
I'd be very surprised if they did anything before they launch Premium Plus, assuming that's still in the business plan for sometime probably post-COVID. (I also think that if they don't make it possible for Premium Plus members to own a standalone Homestead, the offering will be DOA.) Also, at this point, I doubt AWS is saving them any operational expense, even once they turn off all datacenter-hosted hardware. Eventually, probably, but they haven't done anything to tweak the architecture to take real advantage of cloud efficiencies, at least as far as they've said. For example, we might expect a new product offering, a sort of "region on demand" that is absent from the grid until activated (perhaps by owner command, or by policy of specified visitors teleporting in) and which disappears again when all avatars leave the region.
Alwin Alcott
i would suggest to repair all little and bigger annoyances caused by the uplift and other issues, never seen SL so buggy in the last ten years.
oOJoselinOo
i read somethere that it might be possible, that they reduce land price. but not in the near future. first they need to check if they are saving money, then how money they save and then, if they can pass it to us with reduced land price.

Ebbe stated in an interview there is no such plan. 21 hours ago, Julia Janick said: Or the possibility of more land options, like the ability to purchase a homestead without having to own a full region Doing so would alienate land barons and risk some sort of exodus, even if they tied it to Premium Plus. It's not cheaper much to run in aws than it is currently with the physical presence. it takes time to recoup the investment and then figure out after some statics, typically a year, on what can be done and tweaked pricing wise.
