Question

I'm having trouble TP to a friends Island. I had no troubles for the last week then 2 days ago every time I tried It would load really slowly and then crash. I'd end up in a blak version of the island with the message "You have been logged out of Second Life. You have been Disconnected from the region you were in." {View IM & Chat] [Quit]

It's not my internet. I can port there with an alt account without issues quickly and easily.

They do have a script limit, but I was the lowest one there when we last checked, even with all my gear. So it's not scripts as I'll even load a base avatar with no impact and nothing but what came with it running.

I'm not banned as both my friend and the owner couldn't find me on a ban list. and they are baffled too.

Was blocked from another busy hub before for having too many scripts once, but they had a very low threshold compared to my friends place. and that at least sent me warnings, which  took me too long to turn off the scripts one at a time and was kicked, and couldn't go back, but I got warning messages at least.

Their estate is high in the sky, but I can't even TP to the public fishing buoy on the ground.

Checking the logs won't even show the land was ever ported to.

They did have a location issue, but the address was updated and I'm using the same note cards my Alt does.

Compared all settings with my alt and all match up.

Even tried Switching their settings folders under C:\Users\*********\AppData\Roaming\Firestorm_x64Appdata  (Backing up originals of course)  then loading back in again.

Rebooted many times.

Tried different viewers. Still the same.

You could put the landmark in your favorites then log out and try logging in to that region.  Works for me.sometimes.

I already had 3 from their region. the old address, the new one, and the fishing boy. I even deleted the old favorites, and the old landmarks, and sent myself new landmarks form the Alt account, AND offered a port from my alt while they're both logged in. y frinds have offer ports, to no avail.

I have had exactly the same problem myself with both Firestorm and the current Linden Lab viewer, sometimes two or three times a day. I will have no trouble for several days and believe that the problem has resolved itself, and then have it happen again for another few days.  I don't believe that it has anything to do with the viewers. Some region servers are just not quite as stable as they should be.  To test that possibility, and because I had trouble with failed teleports to my own region, I restarted my region.  I did not have any TP problems there for the rest of the week.  I suggest, then, that you should ask your friend to restart his region or, if he is not the owner, to ask the owner to do it.  If I'm right, that should clear the problem for you.

Ooh thanks. They said their region restarts every Tuesday so hopefully tonight I can get back in with my expensive avatar.

Yes, regions across the grid usually restart once a week, most often on either Tuesday or Wednesday.  "Usually" doesn't necessarily mean "always," though, and some regions need to be restarted more often than that.  Very busy regions -- ones that have a lot of traffic or a lot of building and terraforming -- may need to be restarted between the normal maintenance times, and so do ones that are hosted on machines that are aging or have other undetected flaws.  That's why all region owners have the ability to restart their regions any time they wish, and it's why the Land Ops team in Linden Lab often decides to restart a troublesome region as the first, easy step in problem solving.  Region owners can restart a region from their dashboards, without even logging in world. Even if you are not the region owner, you can submit a support case to ask that your region be restarted.  I have found that LL usually responds to those requests very quickly.
