I have SL on 2 computers; my main laptop and then also on a smaller, slower one. My main computer's SL crashed when I was quitting and on restart I had lost thousands of items from my Inventory,, mostly from my library and other folders, including my clothes. On my slow computer, they're all still there. How do I return all my inventory to my main computer?

I have cleared my visible cache in hopes they would return but although my LMs, Textures, and Calling Cards came back, most items didn't.

Also, yes, an easy back-up menu choice would be great

Thanks for any guidance,

Q

It's most likely some type of issue or corruption with the inventory cache on the one computer.  Take a look at the missing inventory help page in the Firestorm viewer wiki  (even if you aren't using the Firestorm viewer, the info on that page will be helpful).  You will want to clear the inventory cache, and there are steps for doing that, and there is also a section at the bottom, on re-creating your inventory by doing a copy of the files from the SL viewer (the steps  for this are all explained, also).

Hopefully, one of the help items there will get you going again.

If inventory can be seen in any viewer on any computer, then it is not lost.

Follow all of the steps here: https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_missing_inventory

Also.....
It sounds like your older, slower PC's hard drive is about to go: wheeze! - bang! - grind to a halt! - wreak inexplicable havoc upon  personkind for millennia to come!.

A quick analysis/rescue attempt can be performed using the free versions of "CCleaner" & "Ultimate Defrag".

As with anything I would have to state that I accept no responsibility for the age or condition of your hard drives.
Also that this advice is purely my opinion and comes with no guarantee it will solve your problem/s.

I've been a user of this for a very long time, but earlier this year Microsoft took it off their approved list and specifically recommends against it.  Apparently it's lost its creative genius person and was acquired by a company known for data mining. That's what I heard, anyway.

Thank you both so much, Maryanne Solo and LittleMe Jewell, as well as Lindal Kidd for your guidance. It worked perfectly!!

I already had downloaded CCleaner, but never really looked at its Tools and will be using that soon.

But correct me if I'm wrong, but although there is a tab in Preferences about BackUp, there isn't a way to actually start one at will like one can with other programs since it'd be great to back SL up once a month or quarterly.

That will back up your Firestorm Preference settings only.  There is no way to create any sort of Inventory backup.
