Question

I know that during the end of year Linden Lab likes to open the option to pay for the year premium membership feature with a discount sometimes and also they give you the option to prepay it if you want, are you guys going to have that option open this year also? and if not, is there a way to prepay it now even at it's actual price? I am interested to pay it now before I forget about the due date please.

I've always paid a year in advance.  On your dashboard, at the top where it says upgrade now takes you to this page

If you convert linden dollars to USD dollars they will take that from your account unless you downgrade OR just leave your credit card on file, your account connected with that info will be automatically charged.   Not looking like there will be a "deal" this year but who knows.

The only deals I remember recently were for 3 month blocks.  I may have missed a yearly discount but I don't recall one.

There was a big yearly discount with the ability to up it to two years "about" a year ago.  I had a few friends take advantage of that. That was when the price went up so in actuality you were locking in the old price. Now those folks are beginning to have to reup if they want to keep premium. Some will. Some will not.

I did some accounts on each of the two special price prepays - one was in June 2019 and one was in Dec 2019. The one in June let us prepay at the old $72/yr rate before the new price of $99/yr took effect.  The one in Dec let us prepay at a rate of $89/yr - a 10% discount.   Thus two of my accounts now renew in early 2021 (March and April) and the other two renew in 2022 (March and June).

Us guys are not LL.  We are merely other Residents like you.  If you want an actual answer from LL, you'll need to open a Support ticket.  I have not heard of any prepay specials coming though.

You could also call Billing and find out if you can pay ahead - never hurts to ask.

  Billing support phone numbers
    Toll-Free (US/Canada): 800.294.1067
    Long-Distance: 703.286.6277
Our Billing team is available from 9am to 6pm EST(6am to 3pm PST), Monday through Friday.

I do remember that prepay before the price increase.  I guess only discounts on yearly before a price increase?

Those specials did allow for prepay at the quarterly rate -- the first one at whatever the old quarterly rate was and the second one gave a 5-10% discount off the new quarterly rate.  I don't remember if Monthly was included in either of those, but I thinking it was, at least for the first one.

Prior to those prepays, I had never seen any type of prepay options and I had never seen any special pricing at all on the Yearly level.  They have done special pricing on the Monthly and Quarterly rates, for new signups, not a prepay option.
