I don't Ctl T, so who knew it was outdated. I suppose if i really cared (am I wrong that I don't?) then I would use my gadget that I learned about from Strawberry Singh/Linden ages ago. I think it is called "What is she wearing?" (I'm not inworld to check). It is great to be sneaky (no clicking avatars to inspect) to find out "oooh, where did they get that hair, that head, that shirt..." and yep, it'll show parts.

Yeah, I use What Is She Wearing on occasion. Probably half the time it is, again, TMI. I don't like using it: it feels really invasive.

But it really is amazing how many people wander around stores or wherever with entirely unnecessary bits and pieces attached. It's great that BoM is helping us reduce the complexity of our mesh bodies, but the fact that so many people are unthinkingly wearing loads of high complexity god-knows-what suggests that a high percentage of residents either don't know or don't care about how their avis are impacting on others.

   The way many (most, I reckon) male bits work when you 'hide' them isn't that they apply an alpha texture or use transparency. The way they'll hide is they'll shrink to the size of a peanut and be moved inside of your body.

   It's a bit like having your gonads un-drop. Which may well be our best argument to convince guys they should just leave it in their inventory when out and about!

I'm not sure why both genders don't just store the bits in the favorite wearable folder.  It was one of the best features LL ever introduced and exactly for this type of use.

Simple they're to lazy to click to put on and take off and don't care if that little extra arc affects anyone else.

Not everyone does or will ever care how their playing may affect other's because in reality they don't have to, no matter what anyone else thinks or says.

A lot of it is just plain forgetfulness (among those who do know or care). Nothing more horrid or sinister than that (looks up to previous comment and rolls eyes).

I am not a fan of RLV, but it is sometimes a necessity just to basically function in some parts of the grid. I do love my outfits folder which has a basic me with and without my lady garden.*

What about the rising trend of anatomical females who wear male attachments? The body weight argument may or may not work here, depending on the needs of the OP. 😉

Also, women can be some scripty, laggy folk, particularly on parcels for AFK dolls, where there is a vending machine full of options as to what you can do with somebody who has scripted themselves up in order to provide pleasure. And as was mentioned before, some of these ladies take the circus on the road, fully charged, all-the-options to various shopping events. 
 

And THEN all the outfit changes. If anything, I think derendering the women would be the smarter idea because most men (don’t come after me, fashionistos) tend to wear their outfits for days at a time. Less textures for your pc to swallow that way, too.

I’m one of those weirdos who dresses my avatar up in Jammies before logging out, not to mention however many different outfits I’ll need to wear in a day for wherever I choose to visit.

This has been debated endlessly and the debate should not end here. BUT... CONSIDER...

This SL is an inventory game... Is Second Life a Game? I posted the article based on Rhonda Huntress' inspiring comment somewhere.

If one considers de-rendering all male avatars... and we have sort of eliminated a binary switch in favor of a 0 to 1 sliding scale... maybe we should consider a choice based on gender preference?

It is a game to some people. for that is all they see anything virtual online as. if its not real people with real bodies aka rl video, then its a game. plus you can play games here so again its a game.
