Hi everyone! i'm hoping someone can clarify a question for me. I have read TOS on child avatars but the employer wants to be sure.

Question: Can a child  avatar work on a Mature rated sim as a Host in a country club?

The club is family oriented and allows children to go there dance along and enjoy the country music.

There is No sexual or misconduct on the sim.

According to the Terms of Service, yes, provided that there's nothing sexual about the job or the location. The owner of the club may impose tighter restrictions if they choose, so the answer in this particular case may still be no. You will need to ask the club owner for a definitive answer here.

If the club owner is the one that's unsure, you can assure them that it's fine. If children are permitted to attend as guests, there' s nothing preventing a child from working there too.

Dolly Parton performed on radio shows when she was 10 and was on the Grand Old Opry when she was 13. I'm just sayin...

perhaps also think about the visitors ... how would they like it?

In fact, the least tolerant visitor can make a fuss and file an Abuse Report about anything that gets their prudish little panties in a twist. Thing is, the category "sexual *****" is  one thing the Lab really doesn't want associated with Second Life, so they tend to respond first and ask questions later. But then that hypothetical "least tolerant visitor" could file a sexual ***** report against Grumpy Cat and get the same response, so may as well let the kid work as long as there's nothing untoward really going on.

A commercial concern for potentially offending visitors when there's nothing actually wrong is reminiscent of the Jim Crow South, where businesses and clubs refused employment and entry to Blacks lest it upset the segregationist clientele. Not saying it's a real analogy -- child avatars need not be a protected class -- but it's a troubling memory.

[ETA, "*****" is replacing the two word string XageX XplayX without the Xs. I'm not sure who's being protected by preventing that string from appearing, so not sure why it's in the censorship list. Maybe to prevent it from being a search hit? Dunno.]

my point was aimed on this one,,  it could have impact on the amount of visitors.
I'll keep it close to myself, if i felt the appearance of the host is out of place, my own confortzone, i would derender/mute or leave.

I have mostly experience with tiny and family oriented sims.  Most of the clientele is comfortable with it or they wouldn't attend the events and we have need of two sims sometimes for some events as there is such a large clientele and well over 100 avatars.

My father was a comedian in real life and had to navigate American censorship many times and weigh the pluses and minuses.  If you have a large clientele, I'd say do what makes you all happy.  Be different.  Have fun.  SL is NOT all about sex as rumors have it, not hardly.  SL is a lot about fun too and there is need of those kinds of General sims.

p.s.  My avatar photo here for the forums shows what a tiny is.  A tiny is part animal, part human, and they are small (tiny sized) avatars, not tall like furries, and tinies are kind of like Mickey Mouse who was part animal/part boy.  Tinies hang out on the family friendly sims as many welcome tinies too.

There is no such rating as Mature anymore.  It is either Moderate or Adult.

If Moderate, I truly wouldn't worry about anything.

If the region is rated Adult, but the venue is not adult in any way and there is no sexual or actual adult content, then I also wouldn't worry.

but from the OP i read this is about a Country club at a moderate region. No tinies or family oriented. It's obvious you'll find tinies on tiny regions.... you'll not find me there.

The club explicitly allows children and is stated to be family oriented. Anyone finding fault with a child host would most likely find fault with the structure of the club and not just a child hosting.

I should have said General or PG which I gather they mean by Mature?   SL doesn't have Mature rated sims here.  We have General, Moderate or Adult.  Tinies and Family oriented sims are usually General or PG (Moderate), although some try with Adult and invite tinies to Adult but I've found tinies don't mix well in Adult because some try to push the limits and it's usually a lousy event from what I've experienced.  I only go to General or Moderate sims for the tiny events and you learn the ropes of the good places after awhile.

I don't know what the OP means by Mature though?  However, on Adult, child avatars are still allowed as long as there is no sexytimes furniture around.

The OP does state it's a family-oriented business.  If that is so, I'm pretty sure the clientele are already open to child avi's around and know the ropes more or less if they are a regular at the music club.  The purpose of a business is to make regulars not worry about the occasional one who probably wouldn't be comfortable with child avi's around at all.

I rented this place recently on Adult but she doesn't want tinies there I come to find out.  I cannot always remember to change my avatar but I thought that was ridiculous to not allow tinies in a skybox - it's their own home and other's aren't supposed to be there anyways.

Some people think SL is all about sex but that is far from the truth.
