Can I TP to a scripted surface?

Question

This sounds like I should know -- but is there any way to TP to a surface that is scripted?      In particular skyboxes and building that are  scripted for color change etc -- do not give me a pointer so I can TP.     I usually put down a transparent prim floor set at 99 percent.

You don't teleport to a surface.  You teleport to a location, which could be in the air someplace if you want it to be.  Just script your teleporter with a SLURL to your preferred destination (or give it a landmark to that point, if that's how your TP script works), and don't worry about whether there is something physical there to land on.

LOL, I am thinking on a much simpler version then you.

I am talking about using firestorm's setting under "movement" > "double click on land" > "teleport to a clicked point."   If that point is on a scripted surface it does not work.   The only solution I have come up with is to cover the scripted surface with an unscripted transparent prim.    This kind of TP is what one might use to enter a skybox that has no door.

(edit) And yes I could of course create a landmark for the skybox once I am inside it.   How to get in is the question.

Since you're on Firestorm, take a look at Preferences > Chat > CmdLine.

You can type the command "tp2cam" into local chat to teleport to where your camera is located. There are several other ways to quickly teleport as well.

It's probably because it's a mesh item you're touching to tp to.  Just like trying to rez in some mesh builds.  You need to lay down a prim first..  The script probably has nothing to do with it.  I have one home like that.  I just put down a prim carpet to rez on.

Right now it is a skybox with the ability to change colors, if I remove the scripts I can TP to it.   Using a rug is  great idea since I will be able to see my target.

Then the problem is simply that the color changing script is touch-activated and interferes with click-teleporting.  You only need to click-teleport into the skybox one time, to place a real teleporter there, but you may well want to keep the color-changing script alive for the full time that you have the place, so don't remove it.  Turn it off temporarily (if you can), then go inside, place your real teleporter, and turn the color changer back on again.  You're done.
