Rowan Amore
With various holidays fast approaching, I was curious as to how people will be celebrating this year. Thanksgiving in the US is one of the most travelled holidays. Do you plan to travel to see family? Have you decided to skip the big celebration and just have something smaller with immediate family? What about Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah? Our house usually hosts the holiday gatherings. We've decided this year to just have something small with just us for Thanksgiving. Christmas, we're not sure yet. What are you plans, if any, this year?

Garnet Psaltery
No Thanksgiving for me; it hasn't hit the UK as it's hard to commercialise for us, given its meaning, and we've had Black Friday introduced anyway. I shall spend Christmas alone, as I have done for many years. Next year might be different, but we'll see. 1
Rowan Amore
@Scylla RhiadraThat's kind of what we're doing. This will be the first time in over 20 years we won't be hosting our family Thanksgiving. @Garnet PsalteryNo, I understand you wouldn't be celebrating it in the UK. Sorry about Black Friday. I had nothing to do with that! I wonder if stores will be going as crazy as they have in the past though. I've never done that madness myself and I sure wouldn't want to be caught up in the crowds this year. I'll do my shopping safely online as I did last year.
Rat Luv
Don't think I'll see anyone this year. My nan is shielded and my mum is at risk too. Also I don't drive, and am too scared to risk the train to see my sister or brother, we're all far apart Might just do it Japanese style and have a Zinger burger 3

She's over 80 with diabetes so very at risk. At least we'll be able to share the holidays with her and she won't be alone. Both of my sisters live here in town with us but one has school age children and the other doesn't always wear a mask at work because it causes issues with her asthma. I'm sure SL will see a larger crowd during these holidays than normal. People who do live alone and aren't getting together with family might find it nice to gather with SL friends in the same situation.

Christmas, we're not sure yet. What are you plans, if any, this year? Our kids alternate the holidays that they come home for -- Thanksgiving one year, Christmas the next. This year they will all be coming for Christmas. They all stay here when they come, so no 'mixing with hotel folks' or anything. Typically, my husband and I will go somewhere for the other holiday, but this year we will stay home and just cook a meal for ourselves for Thanksgiving. I'll still cook a meal large enough to give us leftovers for a few days.
Horus Salubrius
Normally we have many over for Christmas lunch (12 one year) & do a lot of socialising & going out in the run up. Just before lockdown was introduced in the UK I came up to Scotland to be out of London. I take medication daily for a rare blood condition which causes clotting in my lungs, so a respiratory illness is the last thing I need ! So I am still here in a remote part of south west Scotland & likely to remain here until summer next year. Original plans were that my sister-in-law & nephew would be here from Canada, but that is not gonna happen obvs. So yeah, very quiet Christmas .. it will be strange, but these are strange times indeed.

Yep, I also think SL will be busier than usual this holiday season. A DJ friend was asked to do a set on Christmas day & he's not sure ... I think he'd be mad not too !

Eddy Vortex
If skipping Passover and Rosh Hashanah is of any indication, I'll most likely be spending Thanksgiving and Hanukkah alone apart from family. I haven't seen them in person since the lockdown in March. Second wave? We ain't even done with the first wave. 3

We skipped Easter and my son got to celebrate his 21st birthday in the backyard with a bonfire and friends social distancing. It was as fun as we could make it. We usually host Christmas Eve since it's also my mother's birthday. We though maybe just letting each of my sisters stop by to give her her presents and leave it at that. One thing I did notice this past week as it's been unseasonably warm is a lot of people putting out their Christmas lights early and turning them on. It does make you feel good when you look out or drive down the road and see it. We all need a little more light in our lives this time of year.
Paul Hexem
I've already turned down some retail sites because I expect Black Friday will be a terrible experience this year.

I honestly cannot imagine how stores will do it. Last I had heard, Best Buy was planning on being open that Friday, but they are limited to how many can be in the store at one time. I can't see them doing any of their "this sale for this hour only" type stuff that they've done in the past. I also can't even imagine trying to control the crowd if only a small number can be in the store at a time, but there are also sales that are 'first come, first serve' as there usually are. It'll be larger rioting and fighting than normal.
Reese Wicken
I'm getting a tooth removed next week, as a reult I have to skip out on celebrating like I have every year to avoid eating things I shouldn't and drinking as well. It's not all bad! I get to stay home with the dogs, eat sherbert and play age of calamity (which comes out on the 20th. Same day I'm having a tooth removed.)
Rowan Amore
It's always good to find the positive side of something negative. What could be better the dogs and sherbet. I'm happy that I won't have to spend Thanksgiving day with my mother in law. 😁
FairreLilette
I feel a lockdown is coming so I'm sure we all will be staying in. It's the wisest. My neighbors and I could order-in some pies. I don't have a fake tree or anything for my apartment...but, just like in Who Ville, Christmas comes anyway and that's okay for me.

Yikes, this reminds me that since the kids are coming home for Christmas, I will have to find a place to put my tree. There have been quite a few changes in the family room since the last time I put the tree up in there two years ago. Hmmmmm
Dafadilia Wayfarer
Plans before the pandemic was the holidays would be spent in person with my hubby in the UK. Now that cannot happen safely. I don't celebrate Thanksgiving. For the Christmas holiday since hubby and I are both on our own for the most part since we cannot be together in person, we will be trying to make it as much of a holiday inworld as we possibly can. In real life, I'll just be on my own doing things I enjoy doing like reading, knitting and continue learning to play the piano. Hubby and I will simply try to keep ourselves healthy and in one piece so future holidays won't be spent alone.
Akane Nacht
Diwali - string up lights and order in tandoori chicken Christmas - leave the lights up and order in swedish meatballs both celebrations might involve some mango vodka and probably a star trek marathon

That is what I have, but I usually pull out an extra end table, putting it in front of the larger picture window and put the tree on that. However, we now have a floor humidifier and a cat condo sitting in front of most of that window. I'll have to stare at the room and figure out how to do some rearranging. The humidifier will be the bigger problem. ETA: My kids reminded me that I did not put the tree up 2 years ago due to their limited time here and not all of the kids were home. This year they'll all be here and will be here for a week or more, so I want to put the tree up.
