I wasn't sarcastic. Some people don't like to say the word 'god' but the other words mean the same thing. I don't ever say oh my 'god'. It's just not something I do. But, no, actually it is tragic for the people. My ancestors are Polish refugees who had to flee Poland to escape and to live.

Qie Niangao
Under Obama the US was a driving force behind TPP, a Pacific Rim trade alliance excluding China that would have effectively dealt with the Chinese trade imbalance immensely more effectively than anything proposed since -- certainly better than the isolationist, self-punishing tariffs that came instead. To partially offset the catastrophic effects of those tariffs, the administration poured taxpayer money into agricultural bail-outs. As a result, agriculture has become the single most socialism-dependent industry in the US now. But try to find a farmer who's not in red-hatted denial about that. 4

They don't like government price control which is more a Democrat thing. I'm reminded of what a farmer's son I knew once said about that (I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic....) The most common reason is it is out of respect as there are those of us who feel no one knows 'God's' name. Yahweh may be closer to his name for many. God is derived from the German for Gott. It's a made up name. But, you might find people who will never use the word 'god'. Sorry, go on about your discussions.

And they must be doing fine now because they are rural america and rural america voted overwhelmingly for trump. https://badgerherald.com/opinion/2020/01/28/wisconsins-increasing-farm-closures-spell-devastation-for-the-dairy-industry/ Last summer, I watched a local TV reporter interview a farmer who was entering foreclosure and losing the family cranberry farm that had been in his family for generations. China was Wisconsin's second largest export market, buying a lot of cranberries and ginseng. No longer. Wisconsin's agricultural exports to China have been cut by about a third since Trump's tariffs. Curiously, when asked by the reporter how he felt about Trump's tariffs costing him the family farm, he replied "If Wisconsin farmers have to go out of business to protect our agriculture industry, that's the price we have to pay." I couldn't believe the fella didn't grasp the absolute absurdity of his statement. I've had several conversations over the last few years with neighbors whose support of Trump actually surpasses the sort of religious fervor I've learned to avoid. I know that farmers and factory workers feel disenfranchised, but fear and anger seem to have shunted aside critical thinking. Fanatacism comes from any form of chosen blindness accompanying the persuit of a single dogma. John Berger This, to me, is what so many of the Trumpies appear to be. Hit will waves of lies, disinformation, racial bias yet they still are "All Hail Trump!" It's kind of frightening to say the least.

I couldn't believe the fella didn't grasp the absolute absurdity of his statement. I'm speechless. It seems to me the government wants to or tries to take over all of farming. So many local farms in California have closed in the last 20 years. I sure do miss them. There was man I used to buy fresh picked produce from and his tomatoes were unlike any tomatoes most people eat the grocery store. His were the best tomatoes I've ever had. He died at 90. As soon as he passed, the kids sold the farm as the land was worth far more than the produce. This was a man who really did do a business for the love of it because you have to know land in California is very pricey. His face would beam when we all would gush how amazing his food tastes. He was so proud of his work, too. He farmed and sold at his produce stand until the day he died. Edited November 9, 2020 by FairreLilette

Fear mongering? Yes but you don't see the type of propaganda the right puts out in certain areas of the country. The couldn't counter the propaganda they were putting out to the Miami Cuban American population either. In general Democrats don't have a good understanding or grasp on the Latino community anyways. And churches even though their very best friend could be a person of color and they are not prejudiced but rather told 'how to' vote. It's sad. It happened to my sister so I can only say it's my sister's pastor as far as I know who told the whole church to vote Republican. Could be denial plus a staunch straight Republican ticket no matter who the candidate is; some police officers are like this. I haven't asked my sister her reasoning because I already know her answer. She never changes. She's extremely conservative and irrational in her thinking.
