Is it your ACTUAL home? Or did you perhaps go into the wrong parcel?
Make sure that you are in the right place by going to https://land.secondlife.com/en-US/lindenhomes/my-home.php and click the yellow "Go to your home" button and then try again.

LOL this happened to me once because I was walking outside my lot and the house next to mine was identical from the front.

I got the free home but I cannot rez or open items to furnish my home. WHat could be causing this? I cant furnish anything.... and its frustrating.

Could you perhaps be trying to rez boxes on the mesh floor of the house?  Sometimes that doesn't work so well, but it always should work on the ground outside.  Did you figure it out yet?  If not, are you getting any error message?

A few simple steps one should check first.

1. Make sure you are on your parcel, and on the avatar that owns the parcel, not an alt.  If you are on an alt, the avatar that owns the parcel will need to set it to group and you'll have to wear the group tag in order to be able to rez. (see photo example below)

Although you should easily be able to rez a prim inside any of the Linden homes if you drag it onto the floor, sometimes mesh will kick it back. The quickest way around this is to rez a prim on the ground, then rez your own items onto of the prim and drag them into position.

Without a response back from you and more details, the suggestions already offered on this thread can't give you much better advice than has been offered. Hope you have resolved the issues and are happily decorating your new Linden home.  Congrats and welcome to the Bellisseria community. - Prudence

You CAN NOT post part of a cool parcel description, and then not give us the slurl!  😄

I frequently forget to change the Set As Home setting to the new place when I flip a house, so I keep winding up in the new people's yard, bathroom, or bed.
