I'm looking for any help or advice on places to get goth, cyber, punk, vampire, lady parts and is it possible to get a whole avatar or do you actually have to buy everything separate ( hair, skin, mesh, body etc) cause it's hella confusing to me. Any advice on cool clubs, things to do would be much appreciated as well, thank you.

You can definitely get the goth/cyber/vampire look in SL. SL is all about clothes, so you don't have to look like anybody else.

Try New Resident Island and The Free Dove for clothing and avatar basics. Visit Graves at Oxymoron sim to see some good high-end cyber stuff.

You just missed Cyber Fair. There was a big show of the stuff you want last month, where all the major sellers had pop-up shops. You can still buy it; it's just not all in one place.

Not all clothing fits all avatars. The different avatar brands are not compatible. But most major clothing brands have clothes for the major brand avatars.

All this clothing and avatar stuff is made by users; that's why it's not standard and why it's so complicated.

Visit Cocoon for a cyberpunk roleplay sim done very well. Ask people there where they shop. They have clubs, too.

There's some kind of Harajuku event on, if you like that style. There's a search engine under the "Content" browser menu for finding these places.

Plus there's web shopping, on SL's Marketplace.

Most good stuff has free demos; try those first.

SL is a lot like RL. It's big, stuff is all over the place, there's no central anything, almost everything you see was made by a user, and land is mostly privately owned. Simple clothing is free, the really good stuff is expensive. Have fun!

Start of with getting some demos (test/try on version) for mesh body, head and skins, that is the biggest investment, clothes and hair are not expensive at all...I would suggest to join support groups for at least most popular brands and make a Flickr account cause creators use it as no1 advertising tool, plus you get various blogger posts with whole looks and all the info you need (exampleexaple2)...Just make sure to demo everything and don`t fall for "everyone is using this and that" cause no, we are not.... find what appeals to you and make sure to check if body and head of your choice are supported with enough 3rd party content (skins, clothes etc) prior to purchasing anything...

If you feel overwhelmed, you can buy a shape that comes with a style card so you can get all parts needed to achieve said look, just always read reviews and steer clear from stores with too many bad reviews or all perfect reviews (if all reviews are amazing and/or you notice repeating words and phrases,  same spelling and grammar mistakes etc, those are fake lol I know, idiotic)...Oh and there are helpful videos on youtube, you know from basic intro, how to make the best of various content to creating your own, could speed up the learning process!

When it comes to clothes, sticking with just a couple of stores is the worst thing you can do, you can find good pieces everywhere and making your own combinations means less chance of looking like a clone...

Ultimately give your self some time, I`ve been around for 10 years and still needed a day or two to create a look I was happy with...

Places to go? Best to ask likeminded people for suggestions, or if you see someone interesting, check their profile group section + picks, most clubs, RP communities and stores have their own groups and titles are usually shown on members profiles...

Hope this helps and welcome!

I'd strongly suggest getting a 'core' avatar first, which you can then build off of to achieve the various styles you're into. A mesh body and head, skin, etc. can be a bit costly, but once you've got it, you'll be able to use it in any kind of getup you want.

For heads, the three brands off the top of my head that I'd look into are Genus, Lelutka (their evolution line specifically), and Catwa (their latest head is a 'new gen' kind of thing).

For body, Maitreya is by far the most supported body. It does have some competition, mainly from Legacy, but I wouldn't suggest my worst enemy to get a Legacy. Maitreya is versatile, but if you want a more curvaceous shape you can look into Slink Hourglass (they also have a thinner one called Physique) or Belleza ... Um, whichever it is that people use. Freya?

As far as clothes go, it's really up to what kind of goth you want. Most of the clothes I buy for my alt are from 'regular' stores, I just pick the dark colour options when I go there. There are some specialised stores, for cyberpunk you've got places like A&Y and SOLE, for vampires, again, it depends on whether you want a romantic Victorian type vampire look or a modern kind - and again, 'regular stores' are probably where you'll find most of the clothes. The stores who specialise in goth fashion tend to be ... Well, a bit tacky, in my opinion. Most will offer pretty much regular T-shirts with a print that just says 'WITCH' or something such.

Goth and cyberpunk fashion, plus fetish, are my 'main' things for my alt. Feel free to give me a nudge if you need any help in-world.

Yay welcome to SL!

My first advice is for you to upgrade to a mesh head and body that you are most comfortable with and at the same time compatible with the skins and clothes you would like to wear. Spend a few days experimenting with demos before you make an investment. For clothes, when I am in the mood for goth or cyberpunk looks, these are my go-to places:

Violent Seduction and Insomnia Angel for gothic lolita, fantasy, and vintage dresses and lingerie

Azoury and Contraption for artistic steampunk and cyberpunk

CerberusXing and L'Emporio&PL for more macabre and gore-inspired fashion

CURELESS and all the stores on Curemore region

Gabriel is more everyday urban Japanese street fashion but they have many pieces you can mix and match to assemble a neo-goth or cyberpunk look, same with Toksik

Bauhaus Movement is more haute couture but their designs are very regal and darkly romantic with futuristic overtones

kosmii for eccentric, avant-garde accessories and Maru Kado if you want to infuse your outfit with elements from Japanese horror

Moon Elixir is not strictly “goth” or “alternative” but I could imagine their pin-up, burlesque, and fetish gear along with the corsets from their lingerie line MUSE will appeal to many avatars with an alternative look

If you are into tattoos like me, my top 5 designers are: Dappa - VegasTHIS IS WRONG - Garden of KuBolson

For shopping events, my partner and I are always broke after Neo Japan which happens twice a year. There are many other events catering to the goth, cyberpunk, and fetish side of SL fashion including the Cyber Fair last month and the ongoing Necrotize. If you cannot get in a particular event or any full sim for that matter, use this hack.

I suggest you go on Flickr and follow SLers with the style you like, many of them list full credits for their outfits so you will know where to get those parts and familiarize yourself with fashion brands until you develop your own style.

Feel free to IM me in-world if you need help with anything ♥️
