Eventually the old v1 based viewers will go and there won`t really be any need for it anymore. I guess all of us with 2 names will end up with one name with a dot in the middle...yuk lol

There isn`t really anywhere else that resident shows, except in search and it wouldn`t be needed there either if there were no 2 name people.

Having a last name of Resident is a chronic condition for new residents. You will alway have that as a last name, but as pointed out, in the future, as viewers and gadgets in world are updated, you, and we, won't see it.

I think Resident is just a place holder, right? A filler? It fulfils a request. When that request is no longer made, like when the viewers and gadgets don't need them any longer, then the filler will no longer be needed, ergo, the last name of Resident will in effect go away, right?
