Thanks for all the comments,

I will be going to the freebies places suggested to me because I do hate the way my avatar looks so any and all suggestions non ways to change without spending Lind is a huge help. The tags are strange yes but my post wasn't intended to cause friction and I'm aware Im in the wrong place it's just that as a newb I do to it difficult without friends with the know how of the game to guide me to meshes like the ones you've suggested just now.

ok, fair enough. The tags confused us because they give a certain impression.

There are a few freebie places you can check out:

Free Dove:

Ajuda SL Brasil:

FREEBIE "F"

You can also head over to SL Frees & Offers Headquarters and hit up their mailbox for informational notecards:

They also have an inworld group you can join and chat up the people there.

I had some recommends to use ebody and at this point in time i 100% don't recommend i got it and the button they want me to press is not there to get rid of your set up initial white body, alot of the features are blurred out expecting you to use the full version which costs alot of linden to get and theres no support group only a bloggers group an online the hud looks different.

Back on here with an update altmura and meshbody (where you join The Shops group to get it) , they also don't work but only because they are a full body avatar and i am using the strong face freebie from genus and it would mean i would need to sacrifice wearing it which i'm not prepared to do.

Thank you for all your suggestions everyone if you have anymore please add them to my post.

have a lovely day

The mesh body from The Shops (TMP)  does not include the head.

.

I just started a new character (account) for a specific story line on my blog. Written for people like you! It is the story of a girl with no L$ at all. No support form my main , no help from my friends.

It shows you step by step how to have fun with no money to start with and (for a change) not allowed to escort or do any sex work whatsoever.
You will read about her getting small amounts of L$ and where to get good  freebies and 1 L$ stuff.

First part: The introduction

well it doesn't let me use genus it turns me red

Don't use the full body alpha if your head is BOM .  Just use the body without head alpha.  The free body is not bom compatible as far as I know.  Not sure about that free genus head but I think it turning red has something to do with BOM.

If your mesh head looks bright red after activating BOM then you’re still wearing an alpha layer that covers your head

eBody is BOM compatible, as is the TMP (Meshbody CLASSIC) - BOM converter information for eBody is kept in their group notices. As for the other one, it can be hard to find - scroll down to around 2/3rd of the page here for a visual - https://ryanschultz.com/2020/04/17/second-life-steals-deals-and-freebies-the-meshbody-offers-free-versions-of-their-classic-mesh-bodies-for-men-and-women/

If @Soaping is using the new free TMP Classic it is BoM compatible. There is an option to activate it in the section of the HUD that needs media enabled to communicate with their server. The free Genus is BoM compatible too, the head/body will go red if BoM is turned on but full head and/or body alphas are still worn

Skell Dagger has a good section of tutorials. And he includes pictures so you can see just how you turn on BoM. He show how for the Genus heads, and the Legacy bodies. Turn on BoM is on the same place on the Classic 1 L body.

Plus, scroll down for troubleshooting, including: "Bright red head" "Bright red body".

The 500 L store credit is still in the Addams booth at Second Life Hallowe’en Shop and Hop event.

Find Addams on this list: https://community.secondlife.com/blogs/entry/6012-halloween-shop-hop-now-open/

BUT! Your 1 L free body is not supported by Addams clothing. How can you still use the store credit? Demo first. Jeans are easy. You use the alpha cuts from the hips and down. Maitreya size fits the waist best, but try all the sizes. Shoes, ankle boots are easy too. Take off the feet. The free female body can use Legacy shoes. Long boots will be a problem. So demo before you spend a linden. Sweaters, wear Legacy size. They fit around the shoulders and the "front". You will need to alpha out the back.

Wrists can be a problem. And clothes with a bare back and straps over the back will NOT fit.

One of the best gifts for new residents is in Mina Hair mainstore. It is a suuuper cute hair with a wide strawhat. I would buy it, but I am too old. :(

Question: if you had an ebody free version and you converted it to BoM, would you in effect have a completely free body?

Sorta, but only for those who don't use skin appliers. You could say one could save some bucks by forgoing Omega kits and Omega appliers. The rest of the HUD still have limited functions. For example, you can't adjust the skin shine or gloss, nor can you pick nail shapes & default polish.  The little alpha cutouts are only functional in the paid version.  I'm not sure if the clothing alpha layers would behave the same way as Slink after BoM conversion; I haven't tested it out yet.

ebody requires certain settings i can't have due to frames being bad.

If you mean "frames being bad" as in some features on the HUD being disabled because the body is free, there's a reason for that.  The creator intended it to be that way; the free body with limited functions is just a sample for the customer to decide if they want to pay for the full version later.

A lot of people manage somehow on making the best of the free things in SL.  Things may not be quite as perfect or fit exactly right but it does take a bit of time and patience to find out what does work for you.  I wore the original TMP body for ages without using the skin applier that went with my face as I didn't care for it.  It took awhile to adjust the tone of my face to match close enough that using the neck fix made it almost unnoticeable.    But since the new version IS BOM, you shouldn't have any trouble matching head and body.  That's the beauty of BOM.  No appliers for specific bodies.  Hang in there though.  Once you get those parts the way you want, the rest is fairly easy.

Type in Marketplace search the words Dollarbie and Gift.  The gifts are usually one linden and should be labeled dollarbie, imo.  Dollarbie's are 1 linden items.

The word PROMO is another way to find some lower cost items on Marketplace.

Have not read the whole thread, sorry if my info is redundant.

If it turns red, it means that it's set to Bakes on Mesh and you're wearing an alpha layer, which you must take off to use it.

It's possible to have Bakes on Mesh on just the body, or just the head, or both. Remove the alpha from whichever part of you has turned red.
