Hello! My name's Ebony and I'm looking for a job in SL. I am extremely new (a little noobish) since I've only been on SL for about a month going on to two.

I'm looking for a job to where I can explore the world of SL, and gain friends and connections.

What I'm good at:

Digital Art: I am a self-taught artist, and I do digital artwork on the side-job / hobby. I have done things like repaints or do full blown commissions for at least...6 years now? I'm always learning how to be a better artist.

Editing: Another self-taught hobby, but I don't do it often simply because it takes too long and my laptop simply cannot handle it after a while. I've been editing for at least 2 years (I use the recent version of Adobe-After Effects). I can make small one-minute AMVs.

Roleplaying: I am heavily experienced in roleplaying (I notice that in SL it is called emoting). I've been roleplaying for at least 6+ years. I use emoting as a way to express myself (and my avatar).

Dancer(?): I'm not really sure if I should add this here. My only experience with being a dancer is on IMVU (which I've been there for 6+ years). I'm not sure how it works on SL to be fully confident about it.

Translating*: I know a few languages, and meeting people of different ethical background is really fun! So far I know: English (first language), French (currently learning), Spanish (Know enough to have a fluent conversation), and Japanese (Self-taught. Don't know all the lingo). Keep in mind that I'm currently in school so I don't know all the vocabulary.

My Flaws/Setbacks:

SHYNESS: God am I shy, I try to be a very open and extroverted, but I really do tend to make things awkward. SL has caused me to open up a bit though.

School: Being in college has really toned me down a bit. I'm very serious about my work and I put my work first before having fun. However this might affect my activity sadly.

Terrible Laptop: Okay, hear me out. My laptop is absolute dog-***** (I'm surprised it can even run SL tbh) and is most likely on the verge of exploding everytime I click on Firestorm. So, if I tend to lag out or crash multiple times...you know why.

Things I wouldn't mind trying out:

Hostess(?): I put a question mark here simply because I'm not really sure what a Hostess is, but I wouldn't mind trying it out.

Escort*: Now I don't mind being an escort...with limitations. I know what a escort is, but I'm very confident in my roleplaying skills that I can make one satisfied with just words~

Artist: This is an area I am most knowledgeable and comfortable with.

Model: I would LOVE to be a model for someone! I think It's super fun and creative to be a photographer's canvas.

What I'm not comfortable with:

- Using my voice for sexual intuitions: I have valid reasons for this. For one, I'm shy, and I'm not confident in my voice. And two, I don't mind using voice with people who I am comfortable with, but if you want to hear my voice for sexual reasons... I'm not comfortable to do that.

- Being asked things that involves my real life: Look, SL is SL and RL is RL. I don't have any intention of combining them. Things that are part of my private life I would like it to remain private please.

So...Why should you hire me?

So, dispite all my flaws and obstacles, why should you even hire me? Well...

- I am willing to learn and adapt to the ways of SL. I really want to learn and experience new things!

- I'm open to different job opportunities.

- I have multiple social medias for you to get in touch with me (Discord, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, and etc)

- I'm hard working, adjustable, and reliable. I do tend to take my work seriously.

- I can be pretty sociable and friendly with people that I know or give back the same energy (I live off the "respect is earned, not given" role of life)

- Despite me being on SL for a month, my avatar is up to date with the latest body, style, and fashion (i.g Genus Head, Legacy Body, BOM Mesh, and etc)

Things to keep in mind:

- I'm a college student, so my schoolwork comes first.

- I'm new to SL, there might be certain things I don't know or understand yet

- If I make some bad mistakes, I'm not trying to do it on purpose. I really don't know what I'm doing lol

Here's a link to my Art/Edits IG: https://www.instagram.com/star.sck/ you can even DM me to verify its me.

This is a very well thought out resume! I love how detailed and organized it is! I also love your art.

Art commissions is very popular within SL. People will pay top dollar to have you render their avatar so that they can use it in their profile.

I'll link you to a very well known artist in SL, her website for accepting commissions, so that you can have an idea on how you want to start your business.

https://www.elleinadart.com/

Flickr is also where SL users promote their business. Nylon Pinkney also advertises there, portfolios of her work with her gallery by albums.

Nylon Pinkney is her SL username. Her art website is what I linked above.

You could also create textures for mesh clothing, by purchasing full perm mesh templates.

Each full perm creator has their own terms of service policy to abide by, when you modify their templates to resell for profit.

I'll link you to a reputable and popular full permissions mesh creator,

Meli Imako Marketplace Store

You can setup your own marketplace store, once you have spent a minimum of $1.00 USD on the marketplace, purchased with your Paypal or credit card.

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/

You can also learn how to create tattoos for mesh heads and bodies.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for this information. I do admit that this is a lot to take in, but it's really helpful!

It would be great if you had answered the OP's question instead of just spamming her thread about your business.

She wants to know what a hostess is.

Did you read her post?

My kind of girl.

If you want to give this a try as a side job, give me a call in world.
Having said that: In virtual arts or building in mesh you have better chances to make really good money. But if you have fun doing that type of "role play" you might as well give it a try and make some easy pocket money.

Hosting at our place is laid back, we don't conform to normal "HOSTING" standards  - you're here to engage with patrons, invite your friends and sort of just make sure everyone's welcome.  If you or anyone else you know are interested in DJing or hosting - you can check out our post here:

I'm aware you probably already have a job now xD and your illustration skills are FAR worth more than what people in SL will pay for them but you go :)  You shineeee :)

Plenty of people pay for art commissions. I linked to Nylon Pinkney, an artist who does art commissions. Creators and non-creators have paid for her to render their avatars and their real life portraits into artistic portraits.

I did read her post. We offer Training. I didnt JUST SPAM.

Nowhere in your ad did you mention training. You could have told her that your club offers training for hosts and then linked her the slurl. No need to put in your spiel about the club with the poster. You can use the classifieds in the forum for that. The way you did it, was like you didn't want to speak to her personally. It just looked like a recruiting spammy post.
