Problem texturing in Photoshop 3D?

Hey all, I've recently had a problem with photoshop 3D. Once I've imported the 3D object I want to texture and I create a new layer to paint on (before flattening) when I return to the 3D panel to move/rotate the object, it shows the following : https://gyazo.com/e1e470a5f68e8ad3ac2794d2d638c85a and has become a flat 2D layer it seems. I'm not sure if I have accidentally changed a setting which is causing this or not, any ideas of what could be going wrong? Thanks image.gif.8cd88dc1a9c5a8e08d4687897c730e0b.gif
