shanehasatimeturner Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Are there any other Umbrella Academy fans on SL? Do you like the NETFLIX show, the original comics, or both? Would you be interested in joining a fan group if I made one? RPers would also be welcome.
Pomeline Pancake Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Checking in. I've only watched the show.

Eh, you're not really missing anything by not reading the comics tbh. They're weird and and random and quirky, with all the downsides to something deliberately made to be that way. They're not terrible or anything, just sort of boring. But a lot of people think they're great and only 3 of a planned 8 books have been published so far so maybe I'm just not getting it. 🤷♂️ What's your favorite part of the show? Favorite sibling(s)? Favorite not-sibling character(s)?
Pomeline Pancake Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Five is my fave. Grouchy, funny old man in an adolescent body. Vanya least fave. It seems kind of selfish to blow the world up because she's sad. Fave part probably the dynamic between Klaus and Ben. I'm a sucker for odd duos. What are your fave parts? Any theories or hopes for s3?

Any theories or hopes for s3? She didn't "blow the world up because she's sad" though. I like the dynamic of Klaus and Five best, and I wish we could see more of it. Especially since I'm really into the twins theory. Any time the siblings get to actually bond and act like siblings probably, and that they're all assholes on some level but none of them are bad people even if they've done bad things. Also Five telling Vanya "no one is insignificant" and Diego telling Luther "everyone changes the world" were great moments and also just really good messages. I try not to get really into theories or prediction too much, but I do have a couple hopes for season 3. I hope they do a twins reveal, even if it's Luther not Klaus (that's a lie, I'll be so disappointed), and I think season 3 would be a good place for the siblings to discover something like that plotwise. I also hope that Ben doesn't actually change too much. Like he's not an evil *****, just slightly more ***** than the Ben we're used to because he didn't have the same positive sibling relationships he did in the original timeline. OR he's exactly the same as he was before he died because he does have positive sibling relationships with the Sparrows. Either way it's gonna be a wild time for the others. I just don't want him to be super different and for the siblings to comment on it/point it out that he's not that different than the Ben they knew. I'm also on team "Let Klaus Snap". It's his turn to go feral. Of course I hope Cody Ray gets to come back as Dave at some point, and we get to learn more about him and see more of his and Klaus's time together in Vietnam, even if it's not in season 3. And I want to see the siblings find out Reginald is an alien at some point, again not specifically in season 3 but generally. 1
MaxMare Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Great show, I enjoyed it very much...a bit predictable at times, but that seem to be my problem with everything so it might just be how my brain is wired... I like Five, he˙`s a cynic (that seems to happen to us all with age)..Pogo is cool, even tho he wasn`t around much in this season, he calms things down but not in a boring way....Ofc Klaus is entertaining and utterly erratic, no wonder everyone loves him! Vanja is someone I`d have no patience with and Luther annoys me at times with his puppy eyes and broken little heart lol god, I sound like an as***le...Let`s just say I`m not a fan of romance in general, especially in sci-fi or fantasy (or whatever genre this fits in) shows . Thankfully they`ve kept it to what was essential....Looking forward to seeing where their adoptive father`s story takes us, I mean the fact he sent one son to the moon and was interested in raising/training kids with special abilities, playing with animal (and human) genome might not be so benevolent after all? Speaking of "siblings" dynamic and character development, the fact they are portrayed profoundly flawed and their relationships change constantly as a result, is something I appreciate a lot..Linear storyline was never my thing so all this time hopping is a great bonus, not to mention it gives writers so much more freedom... Btw, not sure if you guys have seen "The Boys", it`s just as crazy and entertaining... 1

That weird building where the dad was working on stuff. Can't wait to see what that's about. My partner keeps asking if I want to watch The Boys. It's time to queue it up. 1
