amiieey 4
I love how many clothes are available for this body, I also purchased the petite add-on, but now even with butt slider to the absolute zero I still think the Lara butt is too big. Is there a way to make it any more smaller? Thank you. I'm a newbie so I apologize for my lack of knowledge.
Scorpiiar 76
I'd be interested in the same thing! I've seen deformers to reduce butt size on at least one other body, but nothing for the Lara as far as I can tell. Considering a re-review of the clothes situation for the Slink Physique Petite - the whole itty bitty event might mean more clothes for that body? Clearly we need an itty bitty booty committee. 😄
Coby Foden 15,845
I keep the butt size in zero and it still feels a bit too large. Especially so with certain pants, dresses and skirts. Some designers tend to leave too much space between the body and clothing. The next add-on for Maitreya body should be petite butt. Yes! 😁 ❤️ 3

Lillith Hapmouche 3,126
Did you experiment with sliders like hip length?
Pussycat Catnap 4,926
I find it a bit small. All a matter of perspective. Note that hip width, muscle, body fat, and saddlebags will also effect how it looks. I think a few other dials also. Hip length - a longer length can actually make it look smaller. Because when your hip length is too short - a problem I see in most SL 'off the shelf' shapes - it's compressing what should be a long arc into a shorter compacted curve - making that curve more prominent.
Madelaine McMasters 25,168
In RL, have neither boobs nor bum, so any of either annoys me a little here. I'm not aware of any way to address the Lara body's "huge caboose". I cast my vote with the others for a petite butt. With how they work they can automatically change both your body and your clothing without doing anything else. They were made for Tonic bodies but the "Butt in and uplift" one seems to work with Maitreya bodies fairly well.
Blush Bravin 6,531
Body fat and thickness, as well as the usual in the leg tab - hip width, muscle, saddlebags, and the extremely important hip length. The bubble butt affect of too short a hip length really does make it stick out. And, there are many creators who leave a huge buffer between the actual butt and the butt in their clothing. One thing I do when demoing clothing is to turn off all alpha cuts, if they are automatically activated, and then check that buffer zone. Too much space between my skin and the clothing equals a no sale for me. Edited September 15, 2020 by Blush Bravin

Gatogateau 2,543
One thing I didn't see anyone mention is that on the torso slider of lovehandles, which thicken the waist, a small setting will make the hips look bigger, which isn't the same as butt, but it makes a difference when trying to make visual adjustments. A while back I posted about some asshat that thought my avatar looked too boyish. I thought Maitreya bodies were less curvy (so less butt?) than other bodies. ? I have to admit to not having compared, because I wanted the clothes options of Maitreya when I select it as my mesh body.

I have to admit to not having compared, because I wanted the clothes options of Maitreya when I select it as my mesh body. They seem the least curvy of the major brands. I switched to legacy because it was softer than the others I'd tried. I've seen quite a few maitreya wearers with nearly flat bums so it CAN be done.
Anna Nova 1,389
I can't add to this, as I'm completely happy with the Lara bum. However, I have noticed a community of small-bum ladies at Tiki Town Resort ( Schindleria(16, 146, 21) - warning: adult rated place) who seem to have the bum under control. Might be worth a visit to ask for ideas.
Janet Voxel 5,480
This is really a noob expectation of mesh thing. If your butt is at zero (!) and it’s still not small enough, you are wearing the wrong mesh. I don’t think butts get smaller than Maitreya as far as mesh bodies go, though I could be wrong. So you have three choices: live with it (since it’s the most popular female body) probably a good choice since it gives you the most choices as far as clothing. Get another body. I don’t know...tonic fine maybe? But again clothing options. Use a deformer (or enhancer as they’re now called) I’m surprised no one mentioned this one yet. Go on MP and search “butt+deformer” your answer should be the fourth one down. A butt/body flattener.

Janet Voxel 5,480
@Lillith Hapmouche I didn’t see that. I’m not sure about the uplifting part since she wants it smaller, but that’s the idea. Whatever helps!
amiieey 4
Hey, like I said in my first post, I am a noob so I don’t know much about Second Life, let alone know about how the butts of mesh bodies work! But at least I know now thanks to the help from this forum. I tried the Tonic deformer and it’s not bad, the uplift and butt in option seems to work best. I found the hip length recommendation also helped. Thanks again everyone for the help.
Lillith Hapmouche 3,126
... and always save your shape edits under a new name. So if you mess anything up, you can happily return to your former shape.

As a moderator in the Maitreya Lara Friends chat I can assure you that your question is not a noob question. I have had residents who have been in SL for years ask the same question. There are lots and lots of people in SL who have never even tried to modify a purchased shape, so when they ask for help we are all more than happy to help them if we can. So, you are really ahead of the curve being here for such a short time and already trying to figure out how to get the mesh to do what you want.

amiieey 4
Thank you. So far SL has been really fun to use and the help from users on the forum or just reading old topics helps a lot. Ironically, I made this account in 2011 and decided it was too hard to use so I abandoned it. I ended up with nothing to do during quarantine and saw an ad for this site so I tried again, 9 years later. Almost a decade! Isn’t it interesting what COVID has done to bring us all together. What a weird time we are living in.
Maryanne Solo 1,839
There's no doubting the beauty of Lara. Butt... If you want a smaller buttox? get another mesh body. I love my Lara but my go to is Slink Physique - (not Hourglass). Physique - the lean mean pixel machine 😍 So yes, I have 2 mesh bodies I switch between regularly depending on the clothing I want to wear. I also have a Slink Hourglass mesh body which is also very lovely. Why so many? That must get expensive?.... Yes. Because I work my guts out in RL and it's a small reward for my RL efforts. It's also good to help very talented developers in SL. Get demos! and have tons of fun! (you can adjust demos shapes if I am not wrong - I forget). I also use a meticulously designed Excel spreadsheet to keep track of custom shapes for each body type. Some times the butt is built big in the clothing itself, so if it's in the clothing, then no...you may have to size yourself up if butt is built in. I have always been a slim shape with Maitreya, so I will give you my best knowledge of how to be a "slim" and not have a big butt which is a challenge for slim shapes. Other's have said you need to reduce certain sliders, and they are right. You need to have less saddle bags, body fat at no more than 4 and body thick at no more than 2, and don't buy clothing with the butt built-in. Again, Blueberry and Addam's are your best bet for small Maitreya buttocks. EDIT IN PHOTO: This is a fantasy fairy elf shape I am currently making...clothes by the clothing makers I mention above and the butt is not too big and you can see I am a very slim shape as this is a fantasy shape.
