I want to change my avatar's appearance i dont see any tab anywhere that lets me do that. it

Hi I'm new and getting frustrated already because I can't find any of the buttons for what i want to do, like change my appearance. All I can find is my profile page but it has nothing about avatars on it that I can see.

You're probably in Basic Mode. Switch to Advanced.

 

How do I switch between Basic mode and Advanced mode?

You can select Basic or Advanced mode from the login screen:

1. If you're currently logged in, close the Second Life Viewer to log out.
2. Open the Second Life Viewer.
3. Select Basic or Advanced from the Mode dropdown.
4. Click Quit.
5. Open the Second Life Viewer again. The Mode now shows your selection.
6. Log in with your username and password.

I am having the same problem. and a lot of people have said to change from basic to advanced, but my login screen does not offer that option. All it says is username, password, and do you want to remember me on this computer. there is no "select mode" command at all. where should I be looking

There is no more Basic/Advanced mode. That was a short-lived "improvement."

 

One of the default buttons at the bottom of your screen should be for Appearance.
