You know whats also great? Not using SL like its tinder.

   Whatever floats one's boat, eh?

There's nothing wrong with using the same system avi for 11 years and stacking prims in sandboxes if that feels creatively rewarding or entertaining. But if you want to use SL to socialise, expect that looks matter about as much if not more than it does in RL, to a large part of the userbase.

And if you want to use SL to explore deviant desires, there's nothing wrong with that either. As long as one does it in a manner respectful of those around you - as with anything else.

And no. Shunning someone because they do the 'noob stance' and look like a potato isn't being disrespectful; you're not entitled to anyone's acceptance to the point where they have to engage with you against their will. This bit isn't necessarily aimed at the quote, by the by.

Hahaha Orwar i am sure in those 7.5 billions of humans living on the planet  there are plenty who think similarly.

A majority of them, I suspect. It's an issue of a vocal minority with frilly ideals thinking that because people have given up trying to reason with them, that everyone's silence equals agreement.

Back in 2014's election here, everyone 'knew' that 'things were changing', because according to all prognoses, they were overwhelmingly certain that Feministiskt Initiative (Feministic Initiative) were going to represent in parliament (which requires 4% of the votes to start getting seats). It was all people were talking about in social media and the news - we were watching history in the making!

And then we watched a bunch of women crying in live national television when it became apparent that they weren't even close, at 3.1%, down from projections expecting 7-12%.

The next election year, in 2018, they'd fallen to 0.4% of the votes.

It's an issue of people being so confident that theirs is the one true view that they can't imagine anyone would disagree with them, and if you disagree with that kind of people you're usually met with an avalanche of profanity and insults; you're a misogynist, a Nazi, a cog in the machinery of the patriarchy, a person with archaic morals who 'isn't keeping up with reality'.

P.S - note that this isn't a commentary on that particular political ideology, but rather of the mentality of sitting on such a high horse you're incapable of perceiving or comprehending reality due to altitude sickness.

Yes i understand what you are saying but still i find it boring to talk or worry about such stuff and politics even in my own country so I am sure all sides can have a very constructive talk with those who are interested to agtree or disagree for whatever reason.
I am a practical man so things are simple, whenever i like a woman and she likes me we focus in having a good time together, sex or a relationship if we want to know each other more, so if we have reached the point where we start talking about such stuff.. well we better find other people to date, like it or not the clock is ticking.
Personal life always has to do with the persons priorities and likes.

When it comes to SL i don't care about "SL only" dating so i really don't care how someones avatar will look, we can be virtual friends.

I was raised to be kind and help, so I think that if I were to see someone who just came on or was having a difficult time trying to put together their avatar and they ask. I will help. Does that mean that automatically we are friends, no. I am just doing a good deed and moving on with my day. But yes humans do have preferences and will choose who they talk to based on certain standards of their own. That is not snobbery, that is just a human being a human. I don't have to be someone's friend or partner if I don't want to. So this post is kinda redundant in the first place.

Ever notice how sl is portrayed with realistic mesh avatar and most are seen as a super model.
Is it a right representation of sl as a whole nope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the sl website the slide scroll section (All mesh humans no system avatar or anything non-human)
Earn money - Mesh people
Become a creator - A mesh lady designing a dress on a computer
Have an adventure - A mesh guy with headphones

Is snobbery going to continue probably even some sim owners do not care its their sim they can boot you for just not liking you!

Some places offer a valid reason as to why some are not allowed such as:

- The look doesn't fit the theme.
- Spoils the immersion
- Not realistic enough
- All humans preferred
etc

Thankfully there is many places in sl that are inviting and friendly.

My personal experience has been almost the reverse to the “no effort” judgements .....

The visual aspect of SL is important to me (i do a lot of SL photography) so, I’m not gonna lie - I have put a decent amount of effort into my avi
Yet I have received IMs out of the blue accusing me of being shallow and telling me no-one with sense would speak to me based on their view of my avi (which in my opinion is just a female avi with a bit of mesh effort put in - decent but not earth shattering).  These IMs interspersed with various and imaginative cuss words lol

Now I’m not gonna pretend it upset me as it didn’t (that’s what block is for) - but it shows that you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
just let people be whatever they want to be ..... it’s SL and no-one should actually give a ***** either way imo x

Tell you what, I was standing in a body shop nude trying out sliders all of about four days ago and some kind woman spoke to me, escorted me to a sandbox and gave me a load of good advice on my very first day. Can't tell you how much I appreciated it - there's a lot to take in here! Thanks for being one of those people. :)
